Ringtones

I have a ton of heavy metal ringtones I either downloaded from somewhere or some friend blue-toothed to me. And the people I talk to all the time are all with their own specific ringtone. Otherwise, it is the generic Cingular ringtone for people I don't care about. ::):

I've always thought ringtones to be incredi bly unnecessary and stupid. That being said, I have "I've Got my Game on" for my basic ringtone and when my wife calls it's "One Hot Momma", both songs by Trace Adkins. It's amazing how much less stupid things seem when you are bored and tinkering. lol

Lesse... when I had a phone the general ring tone was the Imperial March from Star Wars but a few folks had their own ringers:

Dad, my brother, and my uncles: AC/DC - Back in Black

Friends (from Ohio, always happy to hear from): Rolling Stones - Paint it Black (instrumental)

Gamer Friends: Disturbed - Down with the Sickness

Non-Gamer friends (the local kind): The Muppet Show theme song

Mom: A self-recorded ringtone of well... me screaming in agony.

Voice mail tone was and arrow thudding into a target and Lancelot's squire (from Monty Python and the Holy Grail) saying "Message for you, sir"

I didn't have a tone set for texting, it just buzzed on it's own and got ignored.

Hmm... wonder which one got silenced and ignored the fastest

How does one get a song from DOOM on their phone?

First you have to find the file. Google for Doom soundtrack, or look for a torrent.

Then put it on your phone. This depends on your phone. I have a Blackberry (for work) so it's stupid easy, it just hooks up with a USB cable and I can drag and drop. I think for mine it has to be an mp3 or wav file.

I just picked whichever of the beeping noises that came with my Tracphone was the least offensive...

I never keep it on, though, cuz when I'm home anybody I want to talk to is gonna call me on my home phone or catch me online, and if I'm out, they're probably gonna be sitting next to me...

For my sweetie: A thievery Corp remix of Astrud Gilburto's "Who Needs Forever?" (I set it when we first started dating and lived in other states and didn't know how long stuff would keep going)

Friends from Cinci - Dave Burbek - Blue Rondo A La Turk (Saw the guy in concert a couple years ago. Le Awesome)

Friends from A2 - Zero 7 - My Social Scene

People I don't know - A Perfect Circle - Imagine

Wow, 2 electronic, 1 jazz, 1 electronica remix of jazz, 1 'metal' band turned emo, that about covers my musical tastes, but I think I am missing Indie Rock and Delta Blues.

Will have to go out and get some Ash, and some John Lee Hooker.

That's my email notification on my computer at home.

and mine at work.

Just about the whole family has ended up with that one as one of their alert tones on their computers, not mine however.. Mine is blissfully free of beeps, bloops, bells, whistles, or monkey noises. Why? Because none of my family has had a chance to return fire after I changed all their alert noises to silly sound clips.

My favorite computer sound scheme though was a friend named Dave who set all the system sound to soundbites of HAL9000. The best was the quote played at shutdown..."I'm sorry Dave. I can't allow you to do that."

I used to have an old Windows 95 scheme for that - complete with the red eye background.

As far as a phone tone, Powerman 5000, When Worlds Collide.
