wildbill
Let's get this party started. Here's an army list I created, but I have not had an opportunity to playtest it yet. So, it may suck. Fulumbar 4 Forgemaidens 3 Piercers Musician Freya Skadi + MW 3 Shieldmaidens 4 Halberdiers Standard Musician Stone Spirit Hagard 5 Kneebreakers Standard Musician Totals: 1,499 Points, 24 Models, 4 Troops, 5 Init Cards, 1 Spy Enjoy! jdripley
Can't go wrong with the Stone Spirit, and Freya's troop looks like all sorts of trouble for your opponent. My tweaks would be to remove the Musician from Fulumbar's troop and give Skadi Magic Armor as well. That's just me though, I don't usually go after speed, and I know you like to get all the speed you can, Wildbill. Looks like a good all around force, capable of dealing with a variety of threats. I like it!

rgtriplec
Here's a list I might play... if I ever get any games. I figure 5-12 shots with Defensive Shot and 2 re-rolls and a Rav5 is enough range to keep other archers and spell casters busy. 14 Healers that have the same offensive power of a Shielmaiden + totem + smite evil, could mean Rav7. And 16 Warmasters. Skadi would be hitting at 10 or 11 with First Strike. 14 Healers should keep her killing stuff the entire game. Skadi GMW 7 x Valkyries Valana Bookof Tactics x Valkyries Callindra Lorielle 3 bowsisters Totem 1497 5 cards 1 spies
rgtriplec
Hagard is coming. I don't like the hook... at all. I'll be clipping that thing off. I was hoping for just a nub, or metal cap, or bandages would have been ok. If Razig wants a hook, fine, thats what pirates do, but dwarfs just don't seem like the hook type. Other than the hook, he is great, very dwarflike.
Qwyksilver
I would have loved to have seen his missing hand be replaced with a axe head or hammer head or something. Maybe cut off the hook and attach something from the Dwarven Weapon's Pack

I think I'll probably just clip off the hook and file it down to be a little cap or possibly amputate his entire arm.
Arbiter10
The hook, combined with his facial characteristics, does give him a bit of a pirate-esque look. However, in an age that lacks fancy prosthetics, a hook gives more functionality than most other devices or attachments.

I am sure the dwarves could easily craft a cap for the stump with a socket you could attach a multitude of different tools, much like the villain from Enter the Dragon. Rastl
OK - so I finally figured out that I should buy the kinds of troops that appeal to me so I have the chance to play around with my army instead of trying to build one or two and just buy those models. I'm a little dense at times. So, here's my current list of have/buy. Please review and let me know if I'm missing out on anything tasty. name modeltype productcode Qty Desired Purchase Bear Rider Adept 14136 1 4 3 Daughters of Skadi Adept 0 Dwarven Berserker Adept 14341 0 Dwarven Kneebreakers Adept 14464 0 Dwarven Mancatchers Adept 14463 4 4 Dwarven Miner Adept 14405 0 Dwarven Pathfinders Adept 14460 6 6 Dwarven Shieldmaiden Adept 14379 9 9 0 Forgemaidens Adept 0 Valkyries Adept 0 Freya Fangbreaker Captain 14085 1 1 0 Fulumbar Ironhammer Captain 14146 1 1 Logrim Battlefury Captain 14304 0 Ursula, Bear Rider Captain 14433 1 1 Gwyddis, Valkyrie Cleric 14476 0 Ivar Silverfist Cleric 14039 1 1 Dwarven Halberdier Grunt 14397 10 10 Dwarven Piercer Grunt 14325 3 3 Dwarven Swiftaxe Grunt 14422 0 Dwarven Warrior Grunt 14353 8 10 2 Durgam Deepmug Hero 14019 0 Durthen, Boar Rider Hero 14451 0 Skadi, Half-Goddess Hero 0 Gilam, Rune Spelunker Mage 14467 0 Margara Firetongue Mage 14082 1 1 0 Dire Bear Monster 14452 0 Griffon Monster 14077 0 Lesser Earth Elemental Monster 14444 0 Stone Spirit Monster 1 1 Kara Foehunter Rogue 14143 1 1 0 Klaus Copperthumb Rogue DHL 3099 0 Abjorn Hofkeg, Miner Sergeant 14406 0 Durin Pathfinder Sergeant 14465 0 Gargram Heavyhand Sergeant 14173 1 1 Hagard the Maimed Sergeant 14491 0 Tohil Steadyhand Sergeant 14478 0 Valana, Forgemaiden Sergeant 0 Annasha Tomebreaker Solitaire 14482 0 Snorri Oathbreaker Solitaire 14130 1 1 0 Herryk Aesir Warlord 14324 0 King Thorgram Grimsteel Warlord 14042 1 1 0 Logan Battlefury Warlord 14303
wildbill
Please review and let me know if I'm missing out on anything tasty. Well, that is kind of hard to do, only because I have no idea what your play style is. I can tell you what works really well for me, but you may think it is lame. I usually play with a Kneebreaker unit. Yes, they only have one attack each. But let me tell you what: in almost every game I have played with them, I know that I can park them on a flank and they will sit there the entire game. Rarely have they just been overrun. If it looks like they will be swarmed, then I send reinforcements. Also, don't discount the Lesser Earth Elemental. A burrowing model is a good model. I won't play the sublist for various reasons, but the Forgemaidens are pretty decent models for 33 points each. I would rather field Piercers over Daughters of Skadi. And the Valkyries are lesser Shieldmaidens, but as I have not had an opportunity to field them, I don't know how well they would hold up. I am also a big fan of Bear Riders. That's why I own 19 of them, plus Ursula. The Dire Bear is an ok solo for 87 points. But, with only 2 attacks, you need to use it as a support unit for a "normal" unit. Skadi, Half-Goddess has quickly become a staple in my armies. For 155 points, that model is a hoss and a half. At first I tried fielding her as a solo, because fielding an elite is not my style. But I realized that she needed a troop's support in order to function properly. Now I tend to throw her in with the Shieldmaiden/Halberdier/Freya unit. It works quite well. Now that Snorri has Champion, I have looked at fielding him as an elite, because he sucks as a solo. But, that requires you to field a warlord. King Thorgram is a tank warlord for 118 points, but I rarely field a warlord, so therefore I rarely field Snorri. Most of the other models have their moments, but I don't use them often. Occassionally I'll create some random goofy army list and try it out to see how it does. And usually it fails, but hey, I gave it a shot. Anyhoo, hopefully some of this helped. rgtriplec
I think Ivar is a pretty over looked model, he's not too expensive, so multiple healers can be fairly affordable. I think Deepmug is a great deal fo a cheap hero. Skadi is a great model, put her in a troop of Shieldmaidens with a model like Battlefury or Freya and you can take down anything. I personally think Valkyries are a great model the have the offensive power of a Shieldmaiden, greater if the enemy is evil. I plan to play them a lot in the sublist with an beefed up Skadi and a totem.
Rastl
Thanks guys. The Kneebreakers were something I overlooked and have since added. I'm looking at what I can buy at RCon so the data cards without models are great ideas but something I can proxy for now. Funny thing is that I'm getting the lesser elemental for another reason and forgot to note that he's available. Whoops.
jdripley
The elementals are pretty much amazing. I've never been let down by an elemental! Never! They're fairly swift, so my usual tactic is to have them go full steam ahead and get all close to the enemy. This is burrowed, of course. That will have a significant mental impact on your opponent! They HATE having that model so close, but not having anything they can do about it. Worth it's weight in gold (or granite.. or whatever..). Bring the elemental up and start stomping after you've engaged with the rest of your army and it'll stick around for the long haul. Or go for the suicide mage-stomp if you think it's worth it and your opponent left it open. Then again, if your opponent left it open, chances are it won't be worth it :P
