outek
Do you have any particular style of play [melee/ranged oriented, mixed/combined arms, offensive/defensive, etc.]. With not much time before GenCon, it's best to stay with a style your comfortable with. That being said, Koborlas can do any of them. Let us know and we can accomadate your style and what you have mini wise.
Prophet
Just be aware of them getting swarmed when they go HtH.
Shakandara
Koborlas don't necessarily have to be swarmed. I've run a list very similar to the following with great success: Koborlas - 998 points Troop 1 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha w/Eye of the Ancestors, Ironhide Corm, Ghostmane Shaman Rageclaw Line Breaker Rageclaw Warrior x 5 Warg x 4 Troop 2 Kainus, War Veteran w/Eye of the Ancestors Rageclaw Line Breaker Feral Hunter x 4 Warg x 3 That's 21 models, which isn't giving much at 1K unless you are facing a horde-style army. Pair the Wargs with the Hunters and Warriors, and Provoke keeps your big guys up and running longer. The longer they are around to use their multiple attacks, the more dangerous they are. ~v
rgtriplec
In playtesting I found the Pups and Wargs and warriors were the only way I could get near enough models to be competitive against swarms. I use lists like this a lot. Koborlas - 999 points Troop 1 Kashia, Ghostmane Mother Ironhide x 2 Book of Tactics Armor of Courage Corm, Ghostmane Shaman Rageclaw Warrior x 6 Warg x 3 Troop 2 Warg x 6 Troop 3 Istvan, Rageclaw Warg x 2 Feral Pup x 4 Troop 4 Kosumi, Frostfang Huntress Feral Pup x 4 Warg x
outek
Here are a couple of my lists. They are quite effective if played correctly. Army I: 996 points Troop 1 Kashia, Ghostmane Mother - Familiar - Ironhide Ragon the Blooded (x2) Rageclaw Line Breaker (x10) Troop 2 Spirit Wolf + Luck Stone *Warning: The following are not for the timid. Army II: 999 points Troop 1 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha - Ironhide Ragon the Blooded (x3) - Ironhide (x3) Warg (x2) Troop 2 Kainus, War Veteran Ragon the Blooded (x2) - Ironhide (x2 Warg (x2) Army III: 1,000 points Troops 1, 2, & 3 Kainus, War Veteran - Ironhide Warg (x2) Troop 4 Takhi, Frostfang Shaman - Familiar Warg (x2) Troop 5 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha - Ironhide Corm, Ghostmane Shaman - Familiar Rageclaw Warrior (x2)
ktyler09
Koborlas - 999 points Troop 1 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha Ironhide Frostfang Hunter x 2 Rageclaw Sentry Troop 2 Takhi, Frostfang Shaman Familiar Warg x 2 Rageclaw Line Breaker x 2 Troop 3 Kainus, War Veteran Ironhide Rageclaw Warrior x 3 Rageclaw Sentry Troop 4 Spirit Wolf Troop 5 Luck Stone One I tossed together. Takhi is there for the free move and dropping Ironhide on Vasyl. The Warg's are his bodyguards and the Linebreakers are there to shoot things that are coming his way. Troop 1, 3 and 4 are pretty straight forward.
Stubbdog
Overall a pretty good well balanced list. At first I questioned the wargs being in troop 2 instead of being included in one of the others, but then I started to see the trifecta of magic, ranged, and a rush attack finish which could work well if Tahki tosses the 3 snow balls. One suggestion tho that I do have is that with the point sink that Vasyl is, I think I would probably lose the Spirit pup as much as I like it as a model. I would probably replace it with Luta. The idea here is that Luta fireball can help slow down enemies and allow you to focus on a few at a time keeping the advantage in your favor in physical combat. If you did that then you could either give Luta a familiar or add another Warg, more ironhide, book of tactics, etc..
ktyler09
Hmm... let me play around with that. In there meantime check out this new list I threw together... Koborlas - 998 points Troop 1 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha -Ironhide Frostfang Hunter Rageclaw Warrior Rageclaw Sentry Troop 2 Kainus, War Veteran -Ironhide Frostfang Hunter Rageclaw Warrior Rageclaw Line Breaker Troop 3 Kainus, War Veteran -Ironhide Frostfang Hunter Rageclaw Warrior Rageclaw Line Breaker Troop 4 Takhi, Frostfang Shaman Warg x 2 Troop 5 Luck Stone 4 troops + 3 Tacticians. A few linebreakers for ranged. Dunno how it will work but I may bring it out next time I can get to reaper :)
Warwick
Bought a Ragon this afternoon. He's a beast! I can't wait to field him.
Stubbdog
Koborlas - 1000 points Troop 1 Kainus, War Veteran - Ironhide Ragon the Blooded x 2 - Ironhide x 2 Rageclaw Sentry x 2 Warg Troop 2 Aislinn, Shadow Tracker Ragon the Blooded x 2 - Ironhide x 2 Rageclaw Sentry x 2 Warg ------------------------------------- 2 troops +1 tactician +1 spy 12 models (40 DTs, 31 MAs) This is list that is a huge hit or a huge miss depending on the enemy build. The biggest weakness is against magic. The biggest strength is a bunch of Tough/3 (tough/6 for the first rolls) along with a lot of hitting power behind them. They have the speed to get into the enemy quick. Leap to target the more important targets first. If the enemy has ranged, then try to use the Sentries high deflect to help get all models across the battlefield.
JeffyBaby
Koborlas - 999 points Troop 1 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha w/ Ironhide Shadow Tracker x 3 Rageclaw Line Breaker x 9 Warg x 2 Troop 2 Kosumi, Frostfang Huntress w/ Ironhide Frostfang Hunter x 2 Luck Stone This list is entirely based around the Line Breakers hitting first, and then everything else cleaning up the pieces with 3 assassins and 3 first strikers. Stubbdog
With their high speed and DV, Linebreakers are more potent than people would think. With their large bases, they can auto-break contact with lesser sized models when they are in 1-1 situations. Or they can simply focus and shoot someone else while staying in btb using their unhindered. The whole, "I'll shoot yours if you shoot mine..." strategy. Just make sure to pack an armor of command so that you get the free action rally should you fail the shoot at your friend discipline check. JeffyBaby
Good point about the armor of courage, hadn't thought of that. The previous list is also illegal; too many soldiers in Vasyl's troop. Koborlas - 998 points Troop 1 Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha w/ Ironhide, Armor of Courage Shadow Tracker x 3 Rageclaw Line Breaker x 9 Warg Troop 2 Kosumi, Frostfang Huntress w/ Ironhide, Book of Tactics Frostfang Hunter x 2 Luck Stone
Humansquish
I played the below Korborlas list last week, didn't go well for me. The list is based around Kashia keeping Ragon around so he can wallop on people and use her warlord ability to prevent any missed rolls. Well David brought Orba with the Assassin Blade, which saw Ragon going down without a fight. I did eventually take him out, but the list is based around Ragon so it was a very frustrating battle. I killed Orba by attacking with Kashia, and Orba's defensive strikes hit except one, that rolled a one. David then used is last Scoundrels Luck stone to turn it into a 10. I rolled low enough that even when using all my remaining spell points I was 1 off of Toughing up. I now am just realizing that I had a luck stone. The first stiking troop ran into a couple of solos from Looter's army (he just posted it in Overlords) with damage reduction 2. I did manage to kill them, but then Ashkrypt waltzed in and fireballed the crap out of anyone still alive. Kashia Familiar Ragon Ironhide Linebreaker Warrior x3 Kosumi Linebreaker Hunter x4 Luck Stone.
Looter
One thing I also remembered is your Iron hide tough check you got a 10. And did you use your luck stone earlier? I remember something but my wife and daughter were occupying me during a round of you and David going after one another.
