That is an insane # of clerics. I never thought of taking advantage of mob like that, and I won't do it in the game. I'll be playing WYSIWUG except for useing goblin ninjas as line smashers.

I don't think anyone ever noticed it before... people noticed Gonda had mob but nobody put together that you could field it as a mob grunt.

Actually, you wouldn't field that many even if you could because there only function would be to healing up the giant and warlord. Most goblins die with one blow, no stun. If you take a couple giants the warlord and some beast riders and skeeters... you really need those little 12 point goblins to screen and bonus with. You can take like 9 Gondas and 30 goblins with four giants in a 1500 point game. So, you don't really need the loophole to have healers.

But it would be great to see somebody's face when you set down 30 clerics with two giants.

I've avoided this thread because I knew it would get me fired up over the Goblins again. I finally broke down and read it. Let me know how the goblin massacre goes on the 24th. I've very interested in hearing about how the game went. I considered coming down until I had to re-schedule out store dungeon crawl for the same weekend.

That is incorrect. Elites with mob are still elites. They do not become grunts. It simply means that you could max out your troop with grunts or whatever and still take the elite on top of that.

I know these questions seem super basic, but sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to see.

I had loaned my rule book, faction books and the 2008 Rage document to a friend.

He said the core book and faction books called this 4-9/0 or 4-9/1 ... Troop or Troop value.

But the 2008 document used the term Troop capacity. Was there a difference?

He then said he understood the rules to mean:

That Troop, Troop Value and Troop Capacity all refer to the same thing, and that the first numeral is the minimum number of Models allowed, the second numeral was the maximum number of Models allowed, and the third was the number of elites that can be fielded. The min/max also includes the leader and elites and the three numerals together were Troop, Troop Value and Troop Capacity.

I told him his explanation was how I understood it.

The next question was:

A) Does Model mean grunt/adept?

B) Or does it mean grunts/adept/elite/leader/solo/monster?

I said I had always thought it was B.

Good explanation of Troop. I'll make sure it is clean & clear for any future publications.

And you are right with B. 'Model' means any individual mini. I'll also make sure that is spelled out too in any future publication. ::):

Mob: A Model with this SA may be taken as an extra Model in a Troop that is led by a Model with the Mob Leader/# SA.

If you read the above you will understand Troop, and Mob and Model and see that nowhere do any discount elites as mob models. If a Model means grunts/adept/elite/leader/solo/monster the that means Gonda is a Model. If then a Model with this SA may be taken as an extra Model in a Troop that is led by a Model with the Mob Leader/# SA. Then Gonda can be taken as an extra Model. EXTRA. In Neek's case 14 EXTRA.

I'm correct, it may be cheesey, unfair, whatever... that generally how loopholes work, which is why games have updates and errata. As I discussed earlier its already been discussed with Gus and will be changed in April in the next RC.

If you could give a reason why an elite would need or could ever use mob I gladly accept your argument, but the fact is its a loophole.

I personally don't see the big deal both the Default Crusaders and Dwarf Maidens can take two full troops of healer and with the Crusaders thats on top of the 20 other clerics they have. The Vampires have like ten vampire leaders, elites, and solos plus they can take a full troop of bat and knights what is that 30+ possible vampires. Then there is the pain cage. But, one track goblins that can't even be healed are just too scary to have an equal amount of healers.

I think its the 31st now and please come, I want the streets of Dayton to run red with goblin blood. I may be loud and obnoxious but eventually people listen just to shut me up. Goblins are broken in a bad way and need a little love... lot of love.

If I hadn't been trying to find ways to improve them the loophole wouldn't have surfaced.

I think Stubbdog was saying that the Mob Rule doesn't make Gonda a grunt. He's a mob. Mobs count towards the Mob Leader/# total, not the Soldier total.

So a Captain with Leader 3-4/1 and Mob Leader/4, could take 5 Gondas. 4 for Mob and 1 for elite. The 3-4 still have to be filled by Grunts.

I honestly don't see this as broken.... It's an interesting loophole... Clerics/Healers with Mob might need a point boost, but not something that would seriously break the game.
