armydillo978
Perhaps if the school has a code of conduct against something like this? Akin to what a religious school might have, "Teachers can not be strippers or other unbecoming jobs." Still - a policy saying "no magic tricks in school" is a far cry from "Wizardry is not allowed". But like Ary, I'm going to hold my tongue further. Poke, poke, poke. I dare ya. Bwack, bwack.
EntilZha
Accused of Wizardry? What, are the Puritans running Pasco County Schools? Is this poor man going to be thrown bound and gagged into the pond and if he floats he's a wizard, and if he drowns, he's innocent? [JERRY SEINFELD] What is up with that? So doom, if you live there - is there any more info on the story? Particularly the Wizardry part. Even if it's just to inform us that part was media fabrication... Ironworker
This is what happens when cultures backslides from ration to superstition. See I don't mind saying it. On a side note I got a substitute fired when I was in High School. He was subbing for my dad's U.S. History class. My dad almost never missed work. He retired with all of his sick time and most of his personal leave time. Well the school had sent him to some kind of conference or meeting or something. I don't remeber but he had to miss a day of class so he had a stub. My dad didn't like messing with subs so he assigned all his classes to watch some kind of vidio on their subjects of study. This sub however is a real nutcase and decides he's not goin to do that. Instead he's going to talk about the subject because he obviously knew more about it than the teacher. We were on late 20th century talking about Viet Nam and Kennedy and that kind of stuff. Well this guy had been to "the Nam", he even phrased it like that, and he was going to tell us what really happened and who really killed Kennedy and that kind of stuff. He also threw in some jabs at my dad who he didn't know at all and the school and the administrators. Of course he also didn't know I was in his class and sitting right in front of him. He spent about the first 15 minutes of class talking about how bad it was to use a vidio to teach and of course about himslef and what he knew about what really happened then he paused for a minute and just before he was about to launch into it again I told him who I was and that we were going to have a quiz on the vidio so we really better watch it and I also pointed out the Principles son who was also in the class. He was a bit supprised at that but launched into his conspiracy nut speach again. My dad was pissed and so was the Principle so he was never invited back again to sub. Kheprera
Something like that happened to me in my ninth grade English class. We were learning complex, compound sentences. He decided to throw out the lesson plan the teacher had left and had us writing short stories using the most simplistic sentences we could come up with. We had to write a short story using Crimson and Clover and Ebony and Ivory (two popular songs at the time) in the theme using the shortest possible sentences and it couldn't be over a page long. Stories ended up being something like "There is a pot of paint. It is crimson. It fell on the clover..." You get the idea. NOTHING like what we were supposed to be learning. Then he launched into a dialoge of Ernest Hemingway and how great an author he was and on and on and on... longest class of my life. We tried to tell him we were supposed to be learning the complex compound sentences and diagramming them. Many of the kids were having problems with this. His actions actually made it worse for those kids and we ended up having to split the class up so those who "got it" could help those who didn't. Oh, and since we had lunch occur in the middle of the class (B lunch), he decided he didn't like that and made us wait until the last lunch (D) so his "instruction" wouldn't be disrupted. Yeah, there were a lot of us in there that were rather peeved. Never saw him again.

kristof65
We never really had subs mess with lesson plans - there was a lot more of us kids messing with the subs. Oh, I'm sure it happened, but not anywhere I saw the results, or knew it was happening. We did have "Mr Rogers" as a substitute, though. I swear, this guy was a dead ringer for Fred Rogers of the kids show. He subbed a lot for our district at all grade levels the entire time my sister and I went through school. By the time I hit high school, we were all wondering how he did it, day after day, considering all the crap he got from students for looking like Mr Rogers. But he was a nice guy, and most of us had befriended him by high school, even if we can't remember his real name.
l33t ninj4
I saw that on the news a few days ago and blurted out "WHAT THE @#!&?!?!" in front of both of my parents. But funny thing is they weren't pissed, my Dad said "no kidding. This has to be some kind of joke." and my Mom had a confused look on her face.
