Dragonfly's CFP is not in error and thus will not be changing.

Am I missing something where this would be useful? Just a fast example of how to use it in a flight section would be great. I don't want to shove it into a Specialist squad just to make use of it.

Or are there changes we haven't seem to either CFP, or section make-up (i.e. you can take ANY recon model in a Fire Support section or something). Just tyring to figure it out.

Mike

At least I can access Reaper from the Middle-East! Only hit 109 today!

I'm guessing they're changing fire support section makeup to allow gunships to be included.

The Dragonfly is an impressive bug even if it can only certainly employ its CFP in a Specialist section. With a 5 against hard targets it make a nasty little hunter-killer.

That wouldn't make much sense, though, as no gunships carry actual IF weapons.

Though the +5 vs. hard is nice, I just hate having to pay for something that won't get used.

You don't need IFM to use CFP. The Dragonfly is a forward observer. It buzzes around spotting for your fire support units, freeing them up to preform other actions like move, repair, scratch their butts or whatever they need to do.

Of course, you'll want to add FRS to them when used as such as well as pair them with a EST unit. This'll raise the cost of the Dragonfly to that of a low end recon CAV but you'll have a model that can damage a hard target unlike most recon units.

Per the post I just made to the ReaperCon thread the Beta Docs and Cards will be the official addendum and cards for the ReaperCon tourney. As has been pointed out we missed the window, and are two close to the event for us to push new cards.

It's too bad, you worked like a dog to get those cards ready and I, for one, appreciate it. TPTB sat on the data cards and rules for the better part of two weeks, and they could've rubber-stamped them at any time during that time. You even had assurances they would be approved in time. Now our tournament--our tournament--is just a glorified beta-testing session.

Oh, well, it is what it is.

But you need section-mates with IFMs. Which can currently only be obtained in a specialist section, as the gunship cannot be placed in a fire support section. My point was that it would be very odd to allow gunships in fire support sections, as they don't actually contribute to the section's stated purpose (except for the Dragonfly).

Whoa whoa whoa. This entire debacle is my fault and no one else's. Reaper has not been holding up the finalization of the errata or the data cards in any way. I'm not going into personal details, but my time and ability to work on CAV has been significantly effected the past few weeks. I apologize that my inability to wrap these items up in a reasonable time frame has effected all of you as well. That's never been my intention.

Pat did an excellent job considering how I left him in the lurch and as he's said, as soon as RCon is done we will be getting out finalized copies of both the rules and data cards.

PS - The CFP will be coming off of the Longbow. It was my decision to put it on there, in an attempt to give it something that made it unique. Obviously I totally spaced on the CFP only working within its own section. Pat was simply toeing the company line when he stuck up for my lame-brained decision.

I think everybody got this straight, but I just wanted to be sure - we are talking about the Dragonfly, right?

heehee

Obviously, Chrome has been working way too hard at his day job.

I really liked the idea of using gunship as spotters. Zoom in, get the target lock then race for cover.

Then I must apologize. Firstly to Reaper for totally misinterpreting the situation, and then to you. I know you were ill recently, and it sounds like life's been a real whip for you lately besides. Sorry about going off half-cocked.

Thank you Chrome and Pat,

I understand your desire for personal privacy but quick, general updates like this keep everything in perspective and squelch conspiracy theories nicely.

I look forward to the final RC08 and Cards, but it's hardly world shaking.

Conspiracy theory?

I got your conspiracy theory right here.

In a effort to stall future development of CAV, the PTB released a flock of pigeons carrying a deadly strain of pink eye in to the sky. Furthermore, these birds were trained to seek out young children already inflicted with the Rhino virus. The mixing of the two viral agents would then mutate into a new and unstoppable super virus that would regenerate dead flesh. That's right! Reaper tried to make an army of the living dead. And it would have succeed too, had not the Health dept. begun a nation wide campaign encouraging school chi;dren to wash their hands more regularly.

And of course the dreaded Rhino virus has the main side effect of fielding a force of nothing but faction-specific Rhinos using the leftover points for upgrades.
