Bombshell Sophie Finished

Recommended Posts

One thing I like about this mini is that the bomb is an excellent blank canvas for expression.

Now, if you're going for accuracy with the bomb, I humbly submit the following:

When I was in the US Air Force, I used to hang these little gems on F-16s.

The overall color was and OD Green, which itself varied depending on how long the

bomb had been sitting around. The stripe up front near the fuse would have been a

cheerful bright yellow, signaling high explosive. The fuse itself was made of

Beryllium, which you could do as a really pale gold.

Finally you could have fun with chalk-writing on the bomb's body.

But this is your mini and your bomb.....have fun!

This mini is kind of a test mini, and will be auctioned off whenever I get done. I do this a lot with minis, to pay for trips to cons, and such. I then take the ideas, and apply them to minis I want for my personal collection, and/or competition. I know what I want to write on the one I'm keeping...but I haven't decided what to write on this one. I finished the bomb last night using some very aggressive and artistic methods suggested to me by a Canadian friend of mine who is a master painter. I'd post it up, but I'm getting close enough to finishing the wings, that I'll probably just post a finished shot tomorrow...assuming I can stay awake late enough tonight to finish her.

I'm glad ya'll like her!

I came up with (what I think is) a great chalk stenciling on the bomb...although my wife wasn't too hot on the idea. I'll post it up later today, as a finished model.

My main opinion is that the white background is really hurting your pictures.

Paint job loks good, but that stark white background is very distracting.

I agree...I wanted to get pics of her up, but I haven't had a chance to look into different backgrounds yet. Oddly enough, I think the fading blue gradient would actually be appropriate for shooting this mini...even though I think it's overused.

As for the wings, I personally don't care much for the thought of having wings, but I wanted to do the entire stock model. I figured the buyer will probably want the mini as a whole, and it was a good learning experience to make myself do them. I received a lot of artistic direction on this from a Canadian friend of mine, and I think it really payed off.

Thanks for the comments!

Reminds me of Slim Pickens in "Dr. Strangelove" - only she's way better looking that Slim!! ::D:

Funny you should mention that, because my next Bombshell Sophie (I bout half a dozen) will be monochrome, using sepia tones...and the chalking on the bomb was to read "Slim Pickens".

Ecru background, or maybe chartreuse. :poke: Looks great!
