A tragedy at SCon...

We the organizers of SCon are saddened to announce that we have suffered our first ever fatality...

Jester, of Jesterspeed Studios was found dead yesterday face-down in a puddle of Master Series Paint. Unfortunately evidence at the scene indicated an extreme level of suffering and agony was endured by our beloved Jester. Tear tracks down his cheeks seemed to indicate the brutal inhumanity of the crime and strangely the word PLIE was carved into his forehead.

Funeral arangements are pending. In lieu of donations or a memorial fund, flowers can be left outside room 126 of the Best Western.

Jester leaves behind hundreds of unpainted miniatures, barely used paint bottles and a few unopened Series 7 brushes. ( We're not sure he ever actually did anything.) Disposition of his airbrushes is currently in probate and yet to be determined.

Once again we are saddened by this heinous crime and terrible loss to the painting community.

The Organizers of SCon, while deeply saddened by his untimely demise, accept no responsibility or culpability in this matter and have cooperated fully with local officials to bring a swift closure to this matter.

Being a non-attendee, <because "Monsieur Cruse" (pronounced miss-yer; croo-say) neglected to extend the hand of friendship in the invitation of certain con-goers> I'm not at all shocked that somebody off'ed him...not that I'm saying it was anything other than an accident, or anyone knows anything about something that was most obviously a self inflicted...thing...because you know...I mean...I sent out like 50 holiday baskets, with Christmas mugs that said "Mr. Beefy", and everyone gobbled them up...and I didn't get thank-you card one...

I told the cops to look for a man with bulbous monkey-like plush toy, hollowed out from the arse to create a crude beer koozie.

Well, before this gets too serious, I saw a news report on tv that said "A Best Western" somewhere in the area.

Here's a link to a story: http://www.nbc5i.com/news/16320399/detail.html

This says the BW was on "Dorman Road", and I understand the Shinercon BW was at a different location on Swisher. SO...

At least Jester didn't work himself to death.

Who is this 'Robert Cruse' of which you speak?

Not to point any fingers and with complete and unfailing evidence I was no where near Denton on the night in question (thank you Bryan, Haldir and dad) I can say with complete confidence I know nothing of a nefarious plot to inhume the infamous Jester at ShinerCon '08.

I heard nothing of plans to hide his avatar in the box spring, ala so many good and bad movies.

Luckily the nature of the secret handshake will make any fingerprint evidence inadmissible so all ShinerCon attendees should breathe a sigh of relief.

I'll raise a cold one to the memory of Jester.

As his DM here in the Twin Cities, in the event of Jesters death I was instructed to erase a certain folder on his computer. As payment for this service I am to receive all his Gaming related gear. This includes his Airbrush and supplies, gaming books/novels, miniatures (including his private collection of Painted figs), and I'm gonna say his Anime collection is related close enough that it goes to me as well.

Looks to be a different Best Western in the Denton area since the location is "Dorman Road" in Roanoke rather than "Swisher Road" in Lake Dallas (which is where the bulk of the ReaperCon attendees were staying).

Here is longer article.
