CAV Assassin - New pics added

Recommended Posts

As a long time CAV player I refer to three generations of minis. The original hand-sculpted, the first run of CAD models and then finally the CAV models from the JORII. This last set is what I refer to as a 3rd generation model. These are models where the sculptors seemed to come into their own and really push the limits of what the CAD models could be. I bring this up because when possible I try to incorporate some of the newer models parts to add a more dynamic feel to some of the first run of CAD figures. Though some purists may object I present my vision of the Assassin for your review.

Very sharp. Many kudos.

Those arms make a big difference. I may have to steal that idea.

I may also steal that idea, the only reason I don't use Assassins is that I can't quite bring myself to like the sculpt. This version's nice though.

Hey pappabees,

As a mix-n-matcher myself, I agree what you've done here adds a cool and dynamic feel to the figure. I shied away from some of the initial release figure because I didn't like some of their parts.....until I got my hands on extra bits.

Your Assassin has a cool look to it. I especially love the cockpit area. The blending on the blues does seem a tad off but that may be the photo. Like the way your colors work together there. Cool job!

The photo itself seems a bit off, as if the camera was confused about where to focus in Macro. Given that, I love the idea presented and the colors are working nicely. I bet the cockpit is absolutely awssome in person! I have a hard time picking out the finer highlights on the body (again, its likely the photo, not the paint job). I would love to see a good body shot in better focus as there are some things I think I would like to emulate in my own painting. Nice piece of work there. There are never enough CAV pics in the show off.

OK I'm adding a couple pics. I've got a good camera but admit to being lazy when it comes to lighting. I took these outside so hopefully the purple comes through better. The blending on the cockpit is a little harsh but, I think needs to be to get the effect on the tabletop. It came through a little more accurate on these I believe.

Much better pics!! LOVE the cockpit- its a perfect tabletop balance that just looks great as both display and fieldworthy. Thanks for the shots of the lower extremities too. I can actuall see how you carried the tri-color scheme through the whole model now. The mix of flat and highlighted parts works well the way you did it. Keep them CAVs coming Papa!
