Dragons

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for some advice on painting dragons. I have Narthalyssk assembled and primed and I've just been staring at him trying to figure out how to approach this.

Are there any tutorials for doing scales and wings? I'd really like to put some life into this figure.

Yeah, I would say definately read through Sue's Dragon Diaries at her paintminion.com site. She does *fantastic* dragons!

Only the blue dragon is up now, but seriously, jump in, play with it, just remember to either mount it on something you can turn, or if you'll be holding it ion your hand for painting, use bubgble wrap to save your fingers and the beastie from wear. Also here's my general trend in painting dragons:

Basecoat almost all over in the body color, thin paints and multiple coats still apply.

Seal.

Highlight body

Seal.

Shade body

Seal.

Work on wings underneath and wings on top

Seal.

Belly plates

Seal.

Detail work everywhere

Darklining

Seal.

Good luck!
