Jabberwocky
I have tasked with painting a unit of marines for a friend of mine who has been lured by the dark side and has gotten an interest in 40K. This is the first of a set of seven for him. As always, comments and critiques wanted!
Angorak
Putrid colors..vile iconography...Perfect Nurgle Marine..:)
Stubbdog
I think overall it looks pretty good and very fitting of a nurgle bot.. but there is one thing that is bugging me... the tentecles are tooo green. they stick out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of everythiung. Nothing wrong with green, but it needs something... some detail, some change of color, some wrinkles, something... right now it looks like you finished the paintjob and then came back and just rolled out some green stuff and stuck it on... tombwalker
I agree with Stubbdog. The tentacles are a bit out of sync with the rest of the model. Maybe a yellow/green ink wash with a satin/gloss fininsh for a slimy effect. Only IMHO of course. I do like slimey tentacles.
Jabberwocky
@Stubbdog and Tombwalker--good points. I may go back and change the color. I was trying to go for something "unnatural"; I used procreate for the tentacles, but when you said it looked like greenstuff, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Doh! I greatly appreciate the feedback. That slime effect is very cool, TW and I will definite slime the tentacles.
l33t ninj4
They look very cool, great color choices and all around good prep jobs. But I would have to say I do kind of agree, the tentacles do have a bit to be desired. But an interesting idea. If you can I'd advise getting the old chaos space marine mutation sprue, it has a tentacle arm on it.
PurityThruFire
Oh man JW, that is one awesome looking plague marine. Fantastic job.
Toad
Very cool. Don't forget to post new pics when the tentacles are 'fixed'.
Jabberwocky
As my signature will attest to, I have a problem finishing minis. As such, I have continued to pick at this fellow. I added a bit heavier darklining in a few spots, a bit more weathering (most on the left shoulder pad and not well seen), but the main change was to add some visual interest to the tentacles. I am curious about thoughts from the color gurus-- fleshy pink fade good or bad? In all likelihood, I'll continue to fiddle with it...just because I can't stop myself...once I get to the point of abandonment I gloss the tentacles to get to that slimy look. tombwalker
Tantacles are ok now, maybe a bit tooo smooth but otherwise fine. (Just being picky , I like them wrinkly AND slimey) Left pad addition look good too. Lightings a bit different on this one so is a bit difficult to see differences. Eyes seem toned down but more defined. When you gloss the tentacles for slime effect, put a dab of white/pale green in. Let it collect a little in places so it's a bit milky/streaky. I like putting odd colours together.
