l33t ninj4
You should have painted the "custom choppas" sight as "Ork County Choppas or OCC. A spoof idea for the company for American Chopper series on Discovery channel.
tombwalker
Thanks all! The Ork actually was "politely" DQ'd...it made final cut, but they noticed the traks were not scratch built, and probably from a tank kit from another manufacturer. It would have placed but for that...oh well! Surely if it was only the Tracks that were from another manufacturer it would not constitute a sufficient % of the model to be DQ'd. That was just being picky. Either that or they felt you already had too many awards! I did a conversion lord, Put it in for conversion category and got told "You just got a load of part and threw them together!" 100% GW parts, cut, spliced, filed, rebuilt and reshaped. What more do they want for conversions!!?? Your stuff Rocks! by the way.

Reaper User Vaitalla Posted July 29, 2008 Reaper User Share Posted July 29, 2008 Surely if it was only the Tracks that were from another manufacturer it would not constitute a sufficient % of the model to be DQ'd. That was just being picky. Either that or they felt you already had too many awards! They're actually much more hardcore about this in Golden Demons than in Grand Tournaments, where as I recall the rules state that a certain percentage of the model must be GW. Last I checked, they specify in Golden Demons that all parts must be either GW or scratch-sculpted. Regardless, I love the piece and am sad it didn't place. Please bring it to Paint Club some day when you have time so we can see it in person! --Anne
olliekickflip
If it weren't for rules, where would we be??? Anyways, great entries. I'm glad you took home a stash of trophies. Now on to next years entries...it never ends does it!!! I hear they used OTT lights on the final cut models...its about time. Anne, that would be a good idea for the judging at RCon next year as well. OTT LIGHTS!!!
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted July 29, 2008 Reaper User Share Posted July 29, 2008 Really? You like the OTTs? They drive me nuts, too blue for my eyes. But yes, the judges definately need better lighting next year (remind me in April? ). --Anne

SIGIL
Lunchbox, you sir have got the knack. Very well done. I prefer to be breif, but I must also add that the composition of the scenes and the scenery of the pieces add SO much to the quality of teh works. These pieces are not just cool looking toys. Mr.Wizard
I really enjoyed seeing those minis! I always thought GW made the kewlest goblins. Say, what are those toothsome things the goblins are riding?
LunchBox
I really enjoyed seeing those minis! I always thought GW made the kewlest goblins. Say, what are those toothsome things the goblins are riding? They are called "squig hoppers". I wish I could have met some Reaper-peeps at GD Chicago...I almost wore my Rcon '08 shirt... cornbread
It was a bit overwhelming with all of the war chants going on. Maybe we could work on a covert meetingover by the expensive food next year and use the secret handshake
dks
You are staggeringly prolific! Congratulations on your prizes. You certainly earned them. Do you have any other detailed shots (such as faces and banners) that you could add to the thread? I especially like the detail that you incorporate into your bases, including the use of multiple levels and the way you composed the multi-figure sets. How much is scratch-built and how much is chopped-up GW bits? (If there are bits, are they generally metal, plastic, resin?) What medium do you use to bulk out the ground/hills? Your success merits a rest of a few days, at least, before you start next year's entries. Derek
