skya
Yet another tribute to my love for Tom Meier's Sculpts. From George R.R. Martin's Fire and Ice, Melisandra. Done to Mr. Martin's specifications, she has milky skin, copper hair the color of a new penny, and a flame red dress. I must say this was probably the most fun commission so far this year. Jabberwocky
Excellent work! The subtle OSL is spot on and I really like the "embers" rising up the dress.
tombwalker
WOW. She's hot stufff. Not one i'd want to upset. Red heads have such a hot temper !! Great painting! Aiming to get to that level sometime in the next decade.

Spike
Wow! I can't even get ONE light source right..and here you've managed two sources on one model. GREAT work! I like how the flame makes her hair shine best.
Kang
Great job! Just another nod to the awesome OSL firelight on the hair (& shoulder & hand & sleeve). Can't really see her eyes in the photos though - if you plan to add a few more pix, maybe a close-up of the face would be nice. But you really pulled this one off, that's for sure - I can't wait to paint my own Song of Ice & Fire minis (though I'm a little intimidated by Tom Meier's incredibly finely sculpted detail!). The second wave of them is sounding like it will include many of my favourite characters and should be really great for anyone who's a fan of either the novels or minis in general, too. Darius Glenwell
This is great! I love the novels and I have purchased Jon Snow's mini. Like Kang, I too am a little intimidated by Mr. Meier's work. Jon Snow is still sitting on my "to do" shelf. I'm working on my technique for highlighting black. It's a pain. Anyway. Nice work here for sure!
Wilwarin
She's simply stunning. Very nice job! Where do you order her from??
Darius Glenwell
She's simply stunning. Very nice job! Where do you order her from?? She is from Darksword Miniatures based here in Minnesota! You can find them at www.darkswordminiatures.com!! They make some really great minis based on Clyde Caldwell, Kieth Parkinson (RIP), Larry Elmore, and now George RR Martin's characters!! This is one of the minis from Darksword:

It took me years to feel confident painting Meier's stuff. Though I must say that for mid level painters they are definitely worth trying a hand at. It forces a serious thinning of your paint, and, you can really *see* what in your painting needs improving. It can be frustrating, but informative.
