Hey, I just wanted to let you know I am experiencing some problems with Palomino Gold, standard lable not a taped one. It's grainy, and cracks when dry. Not going to send the bottle back because it still works for other projects I do, but I don't know if it was an odd ball bottle or a bad batch.

Edit To answer Question: I got it in the last couple of weeks. But I did get it from my FLGS, so I don't know how long it was sitting there. Though they tend to seem to move them fairly Quickly.

Ordering directly from Reaper is the best way to get the freshest and fixed batches, yes. Currently I am responding to feedback on thickening in Deep Amethyst, Dark Elf Shadow and Muddy Clay, but otherwise all seems well in paint-land (Cyan Blue has been fixed, Palomino Gold has a new batch as well, should destroy the crackling issues and it's much smoother, so if you get a crackly Palomino send it in!).

I'm experiencing the same thing with my Palomino Gold.

It's really grainy even when mixed. It's too bad because It's a really important colour for me. Is there anyway I could purchase a reformulated one from reaper?

The olive drab was really nasty too (but I see it's been called out above).

Overall, I really like the MSP I'd just like to say.

Yours,

Sam

I have problems with chestnut and palomino both drying really fast. And I use a wet pallete and drying retarder in my thinner.. =( It is fine for the first two strokes of paint, but after that it starts to develop little grains.. I can only use it for very small areas =(

Again: yes, by ordering direct from Reaper you can always get the newest batches. Palomino and Chestnut both have new batches on the shelves. If you have a bad paint, contact [email protected] and she will tell you what to do to get a replacement. ::): Ali, is this the new Palomino I sent you that you are talking about? If it is, I am really starting to wonder if paint freezing in transit is the issue, because I tested that batch myself and use it regularly with no issues. ::(:

Imperial purple seems to be having problems... I got it from my FLGS which just got its first shipment of MSP. I put my normal mix of gunk into it and it completely separated. No mater what mixing I would do to it, it wouldn't blend I had purple specs floating in water and flow improver...

Yes, it is the new stuff you sent. Paint hates me.

I got my MSP Shadowed Steel blue'ish and pretty grainy (which sucks for a metallic paint). I thought it's just how it's supposed to be, dissed MSP's metallics (been afraid to buy others after such first experience) and used Citadel metallic paints.

But recently my friend from studio told me that Shadowed Steel is, as it should be, gray'ish, and with a very fine grain, just like Citadel Boltgun Metal - or, according to his opinion, even better.

Thus, did I get a bad bottle and are MSP metallics really better than Citadel ones?

The MSP metallics did receive a change in their base recently--within the last four months, I think, I'm not sure exactly when we got the new stuff in. ::): I didn't have problems with the old base but this new one seems to work really well with the flake over time. So in answer, yes, it sounds like you got a bad bottle, and yes, you should return it for a new one from Reaper. ::):

As for "better than Citadel", I haven't done a direct comparison. Maybe I should, especially with their new paint line coming out!

Thanks for the heads-up on this, Tomash, I will keep my eye out for anyone else reporting bad bottles of Shadowed Steel!

my white brush on primer is really watery, I've shaken the crap out, squirted some, shook it some more, squirted some shook again, but it's still pretty watery, is this a problem with brush-on primers?? The coverage isn't too hot either (pretty sure it's because of the watery effect right now.

any ideas?

As an aside, please post topics like this to a regular thread in the future, this thread is getting way too unwieldy. It is for me to post official batch problems so people can find them!

The primer will settle if you do not use it often; shake it like crazy, until you can hear the skull rattle. Otherwise it should be fine and there have been no reported problems.

Thanks,

<replying a month and a half later>

Mine does that too.

Is it possible to bring bad bottles up to Reaper HQ?
