Stern Kestrelmann
An older Reaper sculpt from the Grand Master, WK. I painted this one a couple of times back in my metallic days (like everyone else did), but the P-65 model intriqued me enough to drop 3$ on this model at my FLGS and give it another go... I remember this model being the first smash hit WK had in the DHL line (back then referred to as the DHA line) Anyway, got her done this afternoon and thought I'd post up. Nothing fancy, just a straight forward scheme... I had visions of fancy dragon skin armor and blood dripping from her mouth, but alas none of it came to be... Enjoy. Sanael
well, Stern, we already knew the sculpt's a beauty, but this paint-up is possibly my favorite I've seen of Monique. That armor is GORGEOUS. What a heart (and brush!) breaker!
Bumble_B
She is a beaut. This is where I need to take my next level of painting. Cleaner tighter lines and NMM. Awesome work.
Stern Kestrelmann
Thanks you two. I really felt like I could have done so much more with her, but I really appreciate your kind comments. Here's an unsolicited close-up. Sanael
Here's an unsolicited close-up. Yep...that was a terrible thing for you to do. If only all the "unsolicited" things in my life were like this! I should've asked before...I like this metal on her (and Sir William)...you mind sharing the recipe? Jabberwocky
I really like the reds--the yellow lining adds to it so much!
Nissiana
Monique is deceptively difficult to paint well, and this is quite a beautiful job! I think the straightforward color scheme really shows off the model well--and the wooden interior on the shield is very well done. I'm envious of your style, SK! dewen
Very nice work as usually. I was pleasantly surprised by the hair color. Great work!
Stern Kestrelmann
Thanks gals and guys... Sanael- Yes, a simple formula for the armor; Base coat with Rainy Grey/ Codex Grey mix 1:1 (you can start darker by adding a bit of black to this mix), then highlight up accordingly (don't go too light too fast), then Codex grey, then Codex Grey/Fortress grey mix 1:1, then Fortress Grey, then Fortress Grey/ Ghost Grey mix 1:1, then Ghost Grey, then Ghost grey/ White mix 1:1, then white/ Ghost grey mix 1:3, then to white... No dark lining for me, I prime in black... Hope this helps! The man, the myth, the beard... SK
