Rastl
One of our players has a half-giant character. He's not Large (2 inch base) so I can't really use any of the Giant figures. Any ideas on a good figure to use? The character is supposed to be around 7 feet tall.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted February 22, 2009 Moderator Share Posted February 22, 2009 Use a 54mm from somewhere?
haldir
I have this one, it's a Fenryll brand & resin Fenryll half-orgre paladin He's good size too, not huge but not human sized There also Mash from Reaper too. Mash
Rastl
Hrm. File down the tusks on Mash and that might work. I'll send a link to my friend. He's very, err, picky about the mini used to represent his character.
alchemist
I haven't checked, but I'm doubtful that Mash would fit on a 1" base. If you don't want something that big maybe a large human barbarian-type figure would be a better option. I was thinking something along the lines of Big Boris Mk II from Heresy. ixminis
IIRC, I found a way to clip the broccoli base for Mash so He could fit on a 1" with some effort. I know for sure that Xailor *will* fit and he's equally impressive in size: xailor
joshuaslater
Go to Heresy and get "Scumbore" the ogre. He fits on a 1" base, and it's a great sculpt from Paul Muller. Of course, he's only wearing a loincloth, but I'm sure that's what all half-giants are wearing this season.
wildbill
I question why it HAS to be on a 1" base. I get that everyone else is. But, if it is a giant, why not allow it on a 1.5" base? Wild Bill Edited February 23, 2009 by wildbill
Rastl
The character is Medium sized, which means a 1 inch base. Just a little larger and he would have been Large. He's big, just not that big. And he's a half-giant, not a giant. [cue 'pig and elephant' South Park references]
Gimp
You could go for: 03385 : Amon, Viking Warrior, or check some of the mercs they have for Warlord. Several of those are pretty beefy. Amon has advantages, because he comes with a sword in a sheath, and either an axe or spear for the right hand, and the shield can easily be skipped. The shield is separate, but there is a strap around his arm and in his hand. He's about 40mm to the top of his helmet, but would fit a 1" base fine. Mad Jack
Iron Wind Metals - Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed stuff They've got giants that will most likely fit on a 1 inch base if I remember their size right - I can stop by my FLGS tomorrow and check. There's only three male giants in the line, though, two wearing plate mail and one dressed something like a genie (which might have it's feet too far apart for a 1in. base)... King Tiger
I highly recommend you check out Bertok 2924 in the DHL line, I think he is exactly what you are describing a 7 foot brute of a half-man!
Bruunwald
I haven't checked, but I'm doubtful that Mash would fit on a 1" base. We used Mash as a half-giant in our game. We left him unbased. Sure, his built-in base stood a little over the lines on the grid on both sides, but that's hardly game-breaking. If someone needed to stand on his toes, it was fine. These things are just representative, after all.
JimL
How about Thelgar, Half-Orc Barbarian. http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/03197 Might not be tall enough for you but scary looking nonetheless.
