First time I've actually liked this model! That red is brilliant--wish I could get mine to turn out that way. And I love the "dull steel" color of his armor. Excellent contrast between the "shiny" and "not shiny" parts of this mini. I'll be referring back to this one :B):

"I had forgotten about this one. This was a great reminder! As always fantastic freehand on the trim of the cloak.

I would also suggest some blacklining around the leg armor."

Thanks Dargrin, yeah a little more delineation between the plates wouldn't hurt, although he's done as far as I'm going to take him.

Thank you Brushmaster, Thasia and JimL, much obliged and very glad you enjoy this fella, thanks for commenting here I appreciate it.

Thank you very much Nissiana I'll post the red recipe in this post.

"DS list your formula for your cape... thanks"

Sure thing Stubbdog:

Over white primer.

1. Basecoat VMC Red with a touch of black, a very very dark red.

2. Add Liquitex Napthol Crimson. Mine is in a big tube "Basics" is the paint line.

3. Paint with that color until it's pure.

4. For highlights add small amounts of RMS Pheonix Red.

5. For sharp highlights you can add RMS Rosy Skin or any other warm flesh tone such as VGC Dwarf Flesh or the like.

6. If you want to go very bright with the highlights you can add RMS Clear Yellow although I'm unsure if I did here or not. I paint red a great deal and sometimes it changes with how far I take the highlights. Sometimes I use cadmium varieties of oil paint and blend down in the shaded areas and glaze them as well, but I didn't here, I only used oils here on his sword blade since I was having a difficult time blending the vertical angle of the small piece with acrylics.

Clean work indeed DS...

Good to see you slingin' paint on some Reaper stuff again.

Honestly man, this is one of the few Klocke sculpts I've never liked... Proportions are just off somewhow, despite a sweet paint job, I still don't like this sculpt...

Again, good to see you posting again bro-ham.

Sk and Bikerdrew, thank you and yeah I had that same impression of this one for the longest time, I think that's why it sat as one of the last figures I had until I finally painted him. Overall though I grew to like it, but yeah something about his size.

"If my helmet were that bulky, I'd prefer to carry it too."

Heh indeed. Thanks DFo.

"Lovely work. Do you show your work anywhere else?"

Thanks Ishil, just in the link in my signature and here, as well as at the Bolter and Chainsword forum when I was painting Space Marines, but I haven't posted there in years. But the CMON link in my sig has a good archive of stuff I've painted going back to '03, about 50 or 60 submissions.

MamaGeek, thank you very much, glad you like.
