Darius Glenwell
So here is the story behind this ugly little guy. A friend of mine received him from a promo for the Doom game (or something like that), and really hated the thing. He had tried to paint it, primed it in black and even put a basecoat of some greenish flesh on him, then lost interest in painting him. So he took it to his FLGS where Rob Cruse would paint and even teach some techniques on Thursday nights. He showed this guy to Mr. Cruse who then told my friend that he had no idea where to go with him and to chuck it cause the sculpting was so bad. So I asked my friend if I could paint him. He said sure, either paint him or melt him down! He was tired of looking at the thing. I figured the gauntlet had been thrown down. If Rob Cruse wouldn't paint him then I would. So here he is in all of his ugly little glory. Not the best sculpting job, but I liked the big plasma guns for arms. It says Reaper on the bottom of his actual base. But I wanted to give him a better one. Something that said "WasteLands". I also used some glossy varnish for his eyes, mouth, and plasma tubing. C&C welcome. Enjoy!! bikerdrew
Jebus, but he's ugly! I like the way you've done the guns - very nice.
zaphod
Nice job! I painted this guy for a friend as well... Tough one to get into, but loads of possibilities when done!!!!
joshuaslater
Off. The. Hook. 'Says more about your good painting that you could make that model look that good. I'm wishing I had that old DOOM stuff from Reaper. Sadly, it's almost impossible to find. The Wasteland basing is something I'll need to know how to do, if you don't mind sharing. Overall, I'm floored.
mercoutlaw
I think this is a very Ugly, but well done mini! From what you had to work with, you definitely did it more justice than it might deserve!

Overall, I'm floored. Thanks all for the nice comments! He is butt freaking ugly!! As for the wasteland basing. All I did was glue some gravely sand onto the base. Basecoat it a dark brown, then highlighted up to a tan. Then used some tan static grass (I think it's called winter dead?) and some mossy mix from Gail Force 9, and then some tall grass from Woodland Scenics cut to size. Hope this helps! demonelf3
As someone who just watched Doom the movie, I have to say that guy is perfect. I love when the Rock just goes: SEMPER FI MOTHER****ER! Classic!
DavidVC04
Ugh! Disgusting! And I mean that in a good way.
Bruunwald
I would almost have preferred him without the little bloody splotches, but he's definitely more Doom-y that way. I think you did an excellent job. Doesn't look like a bad sculpt anymore.
JimL
Very cool. Brings back memories of blasting away in the halls of DOOM!
