Moderator TaleSpinner Posted April 4, 2009 Moderator Share Posted April 4, 2009 Here's my take on MR Wiebe's Charnel grub: I wanted to hearken back to the old MM description of a giant green cut worm, so I used cecropia, luna, and polyphemus caterpillars as references. I think this is by far the brightest mini I have ever painted. I am very pleased with the way this one turned out. If you are interested in all the gory painting details, see the Hour by Hour WIP. Let me know what you think. Andy

Erk
If I ever get a charnel grub, this is certainly going to be inspiration to why I'd get it and how I'll paint it. It's beautiful, and hideous.... and it looks very poisonous. Be sure to feed it some adventurers some time soon.

Sergeant_Crunch
nice blending on the tentacles
Sanael
I mentioned in the WIP how much I love what you did with the compound eyes, and I still can't get over those. What I just noticed was the puddle of slime it's leaving behind...beautiful transparency on that!
Nissiana
Great color fades on this one. It is really inspiring watching your process from bare pewter to finished paintjob!
MamaGeek
That's fantastic! I love it! When I opened this post, I actually said out loud, "Ooh!" It is very bright and colorful, which is nice to see in a monster mini - most of them tend to be dark and ugly. This is a real beauty! Your careful attention to detail has really paid off. Jabberwocky
Fantasic! Nothing to add here! Glad to see this one giving away to the Great Cinder project....
Dalth
Really great looking mini again. The choice of colors really worked well and it's a very striking mini. :) However I think this thread is filled with far too many positive comments about TS and if I could think of some major flaw of his, I'd post it here to bring him down a notch... But lets face it, he's a great mini painter, a wonderful DM, all around good guy and one of my best friends since HS... (Which was a Long time ago if anyone cares.) So it's hard to say much really negative about him.
zaphod
Fantastic colors!!! Too many "muted" minis these days :) This is good!
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted April 7, 2009 Author Moderator Share Posted April 7, 2009 Wow, thank for all the compliments. I put it in my display case with all my other minis and it looks like it's glowing. Everything else in there is painted in earth tones. However I think this thread is filled with far too many positive comments about TS and if I could think of some major flaw of his, I'd post it here to bring him down a notch... So it's hard to say much really negative about him. Your just buttering me up because you know I'm working on Cinder now and she'll be coming your way next game. (Back at ya, thanks!) Not to make this long and mushy, but if it wasn't for Dalth, I never would have started painting minis. Thanks, Andy
