Jabberwocky
I painted this little guy up for an online contest. I had a lot of fun with the base, which is almost entirely scratchbuilt from plasticard, greenstuff, and an empty tube of toothpaste. Thanks to the folks that offered up their suggestions during the process. I'd love to hear any additional harsh critiques out there--I may bring this to Da Con in May.
bikerdrew
Very nice work. I'm diggin' the broken blade and the glowing eyes and OSL are cool. Who cast this figure?
Jabberwocky
This one is by Wyrd miniatures and is part of an upcoming game called Malifaux.
DavidVC04
Looks great. Gotta run. Will try to comment more later.
demonelf3
Wow, spot on NMM. Overall great atmosphere, a really solid figure. You want harsh? Ok, time to go into jerk mode. The NMM needs blending and more coloration, now it looks a bit harsh. As for the base, I really don't know what the blue things are, it seems like an interesting stort only half told. Rust could use a light line of mithral along the top edge. THIS MINI SUCKS SO MUCH. I jest, I jest. I really wish I had your talent. The above are exaggerated but truthful examples of possible improvements. As always, humbled and amazed, de3
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted April 6, 2009 Moderator Share Posted April 6, 2009 He turned out great! I love the OSL and the blade. Nicely done! TS
Jabberwocky
Hehe, thanks for not pulling any punches, DE. I think you ironically gave me a great compliment--the sword is done with metallics . Shaded metallics, yes, but metallics nonetheless. A scainter I am not...the blue things are my little attempt at unpolished gem shards; for the Malifaux game they are called "soulstones" and are gems that can hold magical energy and are rechargeable. The only drawback (depending on whether you are the charge-er or the charge-ee) is that the gems are recharged by lifeforce that is drawn into the gem from a death in the nearby vicinity. zaphod
Love the blade! And the cloth is nicely done too! Only thing tat detracts for me is the harsh lines on the blue crystals. Otherwise, SWEET!
Nissiana
I'm a big fan of your shaded metallics...I'm sure this piece looks even better in the hand. I think my favorite thing is that rusty beam, though--I keep going back to look at it. I'm in agreement with the previous comments about the blue stones, but I appreciate knowing their backstory. Very cool!
tanker22
This is one strange looking mini but man is he cool! I have to agree with the blade, it looks great, very realistic. Excellent work overall!
