I may have found victims

Recommended Posts

A few of my 40k partners have expressed interest in warhammer fantasy. This move away from sci fi has sparked a hope in me. Maybe they can be switched to warlord? At the very least I can get a little use out of the lizards while I make them try it out.

So its been a while, and I have fallen out of the loop. What am I gonna need to make some warlord happen? I have tons of lizards, and I'm sure I can put together enough orcs from various companies to make a suitable warband. But what sort of lists should I go with? What can I do to make their mouths drop at the sheer awesomeness of Warlord? The window of opportunity is small, but I may be able to make some recruits.

I need help.

Show them how diverse troops can be. Show them how everything activates on its own terms. And how your magic, ranged attack and melee attacks can be done in any order. The initiative deck is also a drawing point sometimes.

Those are usually all of the things that draw Warhammer players to game from my experience.

whew, I was starting to worry that I wouldn't get a reply.

It seems like the community has slowed down an awful lot. I guess my next question is what does the future hold for warlord? While I am certainly still going to show my friends the game, I will feel bad if I drag them into a game that is dead in almost every way. How many people are still playing?

All I can say, for my part, is that Warlord has become stronger than ever in my area over the last several months. I've worked long and hard to cultivate a player base, and it is finally beginning to pay off. Warlord is what you make of it.

Around here, it has tailed off dramatically, but that is more because real life has gotten in the way of gaming in general. In one part due to one of the more active stores shutting its doors, but also things like work and family taking priority.

There are still some extremely strong areas for playing. It is entirely up to the local communities. Like always, if you have a strong and active base, and can play where others will see, it will draw people in.

Some people have been put off by the rapid succession of rule changes, but thing have now been stable for a year. In fact, more than a year, since 04/04/2008 was when the final RC2008 was made public.

We've dropped off for a while too. Our interests cycle and at the moment are cycling around Blood bowl, Field of Glory, and Uncharted Seas. Alkemy may be stealing some of our time too in the near future. But never fear, Warlord still resurfaces again and again. We've delayed getting back in to see how the Rules from 2008 work out. My Necropolis, Crusaders and Mercenaries are all awaiting a return to the table top. I'm downloading the final 2008 version as I type this and am anxious to see the final version.
