I will probably be buying more of the bugbears than any single mini I have purchased from Reaper before. I love the look of the Reaper bugbears, but 8 to 10 bugbears gets a bit heavy in the metal form. I do believe a WOOOT! is in order.

So after all this time this is what we have been waiting for?

A Werewolf, Spider, Bugbear, and Goblins...

Werewolf, ok i guess, but not like it hasn't been seen before in other lines from Mage Knight to DDM. pass

Spider, for that same price just about anyone can go to a dollar store and buy 30 (or likely more) prepainted plastic spiders, not to mention it's been done. pass

Goblins, fine classic monster, but again done to death in so many lines, might get one set for a new pose

Bugbear, same as the goblins and werewolf, seen it done so many times before, maybe 1 for varity in a group.

Borring, theres not one "new" thing (ie something that hasn't been done in DDM or some other pre-painted line) to catch intrest, not one figure that hasn't been done to death in so many other lines to set this line apart?.

the model must be make the same old same old, it sells in metal.

Sure you will get some sales becuase yeah people do buy more goblins etc., but this is still a very lackluster line, it's been done, the most I see is is picking one of the goblins and bugbear to get a differnt looking figure to add to the collection of bugbears and goblins that have been done before.

Townsfolk was the single most requested thing in Minis we'd like to see, Legendary Encounters Edition, it beat out spiders 2 to 1 (on a per person not the number requested, if total number of a differnt townsfolk requested were counted it blows spiders out of the water). Yeah there were a few requests for goblins, bugbears, and spiders but so many people requested some form of townsfolk.

The lack of just one figure representing the most requsted figures type in the reboot makes it a snoozer, and pass.

I'd hate to see that mentioned list of 100 minis to do first. It looks like you have killed the previewed minis (as some are likely too large to justify making when you can churn out 3 goblins instead as per the response awhile ago in the other thread )and the line is going the direction of generic overdone minis as possible. The previewed minis at least had an interesting demon and a few other figs that haven't been done over and over.

The months of waiting to retool the line show bland as ever.

Sorry. We're kind of targeting the crowd that needs minis for their tabletop RPG games, so "innovative" isn't exactly what we need. We need creatures that are common in most fantasy RPG settings and systems. Besides, the "boring overdone" orcs and skeletons, Minotaurs, Ogres, Trolls, and Zombies are selling like hotcakes - we're reordering those right alongside the new models because we keep running out.

I apologize that you are not our target audience.

I've been trumped!! I thought I was the resident grouch/heckler in the balcony like Statler and Waldorf.

I'm happy with what Reaper's doin' in plastic. I want the generic plastics. I've got the far out ones from Dreamblade when they went teats up, and frpgames was clearin' out their stock.

The thing is, I am by your words the target audience, I play in 3 weekly RPG games two fantasy and a third system. I however have never liked to paint miniatures. I have a box of metal miniatures, a good number from Reaper, that are unpainted. They were bought prior to 2000 when metal unpainted were really the only option for miniatures.

I have never been a miniatures snob needing to have art quality minitures, just good representations of the things faced in combat for a decent price. I have used animals from various toobs for wild animals, horse, giant insects etc., and use what works.

However in 2000 Wizkidz made Magae Knight. Many people, myself included bought singles of various painted plastic miniatures from that line, to use in our games. Then in 2003 Wizards of the Coast put out a line. In those past 9 years I and many others have been buying the painted plastic minis, and have gathered through singles purchases quit a collection of Orcs, Skeletons, Trolls, Zombies, Ogres, Minotaurs etc. On many of the forums i go to, that are not miniature pages, but RPG pages, the LE line is basically viewed as a non-starter.

It's languished for two years with little movement, and no one looks at it as a go to source for minis.

while no one thinks the line should be devoid of the classic monsters as one of the reasons they are "over done" is they are common. However You have a chance with the model of small releases and building a large pool of miniatures to do what you did with the metal line in plastic. Reaper has added to the metal line to include things like Towns people, as well as other not to so done to death minis to serve painters. By adding something like that to the line (and not even the large minis, going for human sized minis so there are not the issues of having to sell 4-12 times the number to make up for the costs,) you can create a product to fill the void left by the only other painted plastic miniature producer, your own forums showed the people here were interested in many of these things, if you don't read your own requests i got to say i'm not even going to bother checking these pages the once every 4 or so months to see if you are producing things.

As much as I would love to see prepainted Townsfolk and larger plastic models, I would rather see the line take off first so that it has staying power. There's a reason these minis have all been "done before", it's that they sell. Townsfolk get lots of requests in the regular 'Minis we would like to see' thread too, yet they continue to undersell other sculpts - requests for things on message boards does not equal sales.

For all your poo-pooing of the line, you still say you will buy a couple. Doesn't that say something?

Nah, Statler and Waldorf were funny...

@G_S: I agree with you and I don't at the same time. I agree with your town folk idea and would love to see those minis.

I too have been collecting miniatures for a lil while. While I have a boat load of things like skeletons, zombies, and goblins; I completely understand why they are being produced.

While I would love to see some new and rarer monsters, the names kind of speak for themselves. If the monsters are not commonly used in RPG games, the #'s needed for sales aren't going to be there.

I can't speak from hard fact, as I don't work for reaper and don't have numbers in front of me, but let's consider the purple great worm from last series.

Is it cool? Hellz ya. Have there been a lot of purple worm minis produced in the past? No. When would I use this in a game? well ... hmm ... theres the real question.

Is there a chance I would use a purple worm in a game? Sure. Is there a chance I would use more than one? prob not. Is there a chance I would use that purple worm more than even one encounter? prob not. .... I just talked myself out of that purchase.

Now goblins, skeletons, kobolds, zombies, rats, orcs, and bugs; I NEED that stuff ALL the time and USE that stuff all the time. Even though I have tons of those guys already, you can never seem to have enough. I would use a different skeleton, or different goblin more than I would a rare monster.

I will be purchasing each of the new ones out. Goblins will be used. Bugbear will be used. Giant spider ... maybe, but I really like the color scheme. Werewolf ... maybe, but the paint and sculpt is awesome.

The core of a RPG is what makes the minis.

If I pull one more Beholder or Rare Dragon out of a pack WOTC minis, I'm going to kill something. I don't need more dust collectors. I need usable minis.

They're sellin' like hotcakes. The models that are languishing are often out of stock on frpgames, miniature-giant, and other sources. Dragon Snack has the right of it regarding the range.

I'm a die-hard metal guy, but I buy prepaints for the ease and luxury for gaming. That's what they are, nothing more.

I'm happy with this. A variety of giant spiders is good so I'm not always using the same 2 types for every kind of spider.

Plus that Werewolf looks pretty nice and will serve as a good leader for the pack of heroscape werewolves I currently use.

Can always use more goblins, afterall, each tribe can look a little different, and leader types are always nice to change out from time to time.

Will the goblins be sold in individual packs too? Or just as 3?

Please don't forget that we RPG players also need PC and NPC minis as well as monsters! Are there plans for any in the upcoming waves?
