Bumble_B
I was looking around online and noticed some old Army boxes for Warlord. I also noticed they are discontinued. Are there any plans to release new army box sets for Warlord 2? Any plans for a starter type box?
Shakandara
It would get my vote. :) ~v
Warwick
With the sheer variety of ways to build an army in a faction, this could be a problem. They had a Necropolis starter once upon a time. I didn't buy it even though I play Necropolis. It didn't have one model I needed. I don't think I bought any starter. Too easy to just buy what I needed off the wall. wildger
I am the one who bought the starter set for the game and subsequently the Necropolis army specific set. The problem with the all the starter sets is that you are restricted to the models provided. So, I end up with Judas. No point for me to paint another warlord since you can only field one at a time and there is no room to fit in the wraiths. This game has 10 different factions to begin with. I won't expect Reaper to make 10 different starter set. The best is to provide a voucher or coupon for a discount for those who bought the rulebook. wildbill
In reality, Reaper wouldn't have to make 10 starter sets. That means that it would be one set per faction using only one warlord. Which warlord is the best from each faction? Talk about a hot debate topic!! Reaper would almost have to make a starter set for EACH warlord in the game!! That would be something like 30 starter sets just for the 10 core factions. That is a very unprofitable venture to undertake. I doubt Reaper explores this avenue again. shakhak
I could see a starter set, like the old Crusader, Necro, and Rule book set. Something for people to buy just to get started. I would love to see something come out to help launch the new factions.
Bumble_B
It looks like their are quite a few of the ones in the past. I would love to see something just to get my hands on more minis at a lower price. For new players, this type of bulk discount thing is awesome. It looks like some of the minis might be different also. Why buy 10 of the same mummy soldier when you can get the same thing in a boxed set, and have a little diversity to the way the soldiers looks. Heisler
Yes, at one point there was a little starter box for each faction. In fact I sold one of each starter set at the auction at ReaperCon. As I recall though most of these were pretty small sets ranging from 8-10 miniatures. You get just as much variety buying the unit packs now for the grunts. scotty kahn
I would love it if Reaper decided to produce new starter sets. I dont think it would be necessary to make a starter box for every different warlord in the game, just the most notable ones (like before) ie. Khong-To, Ashkrypt etc. I'm really trying to push the popularity of Warlord around my flgs and I think it would be a much easier thing if starters were available to new comers. Every mini game I can think of has some sort of starter set you can purchase, and new players tend to jump in on those first to see if they will like the flavor of their chosen faction or not. So, why shouldnt Warlord follow popular trends?
Rastl
If there are starter boxes I'd like it if they didn't have a Warlord. A sergeant or captain would be enough to make the game playable without eating a lot of points.
BKBass
I'd just like it if they went back to offering soldiers in packs of 3 and 4 so it wasn't just in packs of 1 or 10.
joshuaslater
I think I'll just buy the book first and then see how it all falls together. The starter box was a nice way to buy into Warlord, and I ended up buying lots of it, even though I had stopped playing it altogether. If the game has really been revamped, and all the playtesting and constructive criticism of the forum has been evaluated, I think the game could come back. dewen
I'd like to see them again
Qwyksilver
The old starter packs were a Warlord, an Elite (usually a spell caster), and 9 grunts. Gerard, Halbarad, 9 Templar Knights Varaug, Ombur, 9 Bull Orc Warriors etc. If they made a starter pack, I'd rather see a Warlord, Elite, and a mix of ranged and melee soldiers. Stubbdog
I like the idea, but I agree that I think I would prefer a lesser leader, like a captain, an elite, and then 3 each of 3 different soldier types or something like that.
