spiritual_exorcist
How Ugly is this troop: Reven - 533 points Kak'Urg, Orc Armor of Command Goblin Skeeter x 22 Gonda, Goblin
Castlebuilder
If your enemy is kind enough to bring the "correct" list against you and is happy to advance toward you in open terrain, it will probably be a deadly army. If you opponent brings the "wrong" army and uses sound tactics and has some cover, you skeeter wall is probably hosed.
Qwyksilver
Not too terrifying. Using rapid shot, sure, you're going to get 44 attacks, but at RAV 2, with a 12 inch range, that is not very intimidating. What ever survives is going to chew you to pieces. And I'd bet a lot survives. Even worse is if it's in the Long Range band, you're looking at 44 attacks at RAV 1. It may take another activation to get to you, but I'd take my chances with even average armor. Indirect shot gives you 22 attacks without LOS at RAV 3. And let's not forget the -2 for cover that may apply. If you were going to toss in another 467 points of screening melee models, I would worry some more. I'd also, at the very least, move 3 of those Skeeters into a Band just to give you another Initiative Card.

Oh don't get me wrong, that troop would be part of a greater army, just putzing around with ideas. Inclusion of Gonda should mean a +1 Bless bonus to shots assuming I make the caster check. Whether or not the troop would be super effective is for sure up for debate, but the total joy of throwing all those dice would make it an enjoyabloe troop to play with for me. With that many Skeeters on the board I would be willing to move a good number of them around each turn even if it meant losing some of the shots. I probably should have listed the troop as 'fun', rather than 'ugly'. Not the sort of troop I would take in a truly competative game, but it would be nifty to see on the board. Bearfoot_Adam
Yeah I think I came up with a 1000 point goblin force with 101 units. It would be a joy for all but my pocket book. but the day will come.
spiritual_exorcist
Any Better? (still probably more a 'fun' list, but I think you'd do alright) Models: 52, Cards: 6 Reven - 1000 points Troop 1 Neek, Goblin Gonda, Goblin Goblin Skeeter x 17 Book of Tactics Troop 2 Neek, Goblin Gonda, Goblin Goblin Warrior x 13 Troop 3 Neek, Goblin Gonda, Goblin Goblin Warrior x 12 Troop 4 Hill Giant Troop 5 Goblin Skeeter x 3 Troop 6 Luck Stone
Robot Monkey
Here's a list I had some success with recently. Would have done better if I had tweaked my tactics slightly but still not too bad. Reven - 999 points Troop 1 Varaug the Great, Bull Orc Bonesplitter Gonda, Goblin Orc Warrior x 7 Armor of Courage Troop 2 Nor'Okk, Ettin Ogre Warrior x 3 Magic Weapon Troop 3 Hill Giant Troop 4 Hill Giant And employing the Noghra Doctrine to use two Hill Giants. Can be a nasty list, methinks.
Bearfoot_Adam
A good list to be sure, however you need 4 troops to get that second hill giant.

More accurately you need 4 leaders to field 2 hill giants. Yeah, we were able to ascertain in another thread that I had erred... I did come up with two variations on this that are legal though Army #1 Reven - 1000 points Troop 1 Varaug the Great, Bull Orc Bonesplitter Gonda, Goblin Orc Warrior x 6 Bloodmane, Gnoll Champion Armor of Courage Troop 2 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Troop 3 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Troop 4 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Troop 5 Hill Giant Troop 6 Hill Giant or Army #2 Reven - 1000 points Troop 1 Varaug the Great, Bull Orc Bonesplitter Gonda, Goblin Orc Warrior x 9 Troop 2 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 5 Troop 3 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 5 Troop 4 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 5 Troop 5 Hill Giant Troop 6 Hill Giant
Robot Monkey
Another idea on this list was this: Reven - 900 points Troop 1 Varaug the Great, Bull Orc Bonesplitter Gonda, Goblin Orc Warrior x 5 Troop 2 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Troop 3 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Troop 4 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Troop 5 Hill Giant Troop 6 Hill Giant And adding a Totem of Battle for 100 points. My only apprehension with this list is the +1 MAV might not be worth it for points and/or models selected.
Shakandara
The number of models on the table certainly matters for considering a totem, but the number of attacks per model related to the number of damage tracks in your list is equally important. At 1K, I'm generally looking to see a minimum of 30-ish melee attacks from my soldier models (not including models that function foremost as archers), and at least 50-60 DTs. It seems that anything much less than that, and the Totem generally won't pay off.* It's going to be hard to meet those kinds of numbers with Varaugh (and Bonesplitter) and 2 Hillys in the list. ~v * these are gross generalizations - other factors like SAs and various other datacard stats can certainly impact what is "worth it" when considering a totem. spiritual_exorcist
I'd be partial to including a few ranged attackers in an army with two hillies. Reven - 999 points Troop 1 Narg Bloodtusk, Bull Orc Bull Orc Fighter x 4 Troop 2 Kharg, Bull Orc Orc Warrior x 5 Troop 3 Kharg, Bull Orc Orc Warrior x 5 Troop 4 Neek, Goblin Goblin Skeeter x 6 Troop 5 Hill Giant Troop 6 Hill Giant Luck stone
Robot Monkey
Not bad, but I'm not particularly enamored of the Skeeters. Going with your list, I would tweak it like this: Reven - 995 points Troop 1 Narg Bloodtusk, Bull Orc Bull Orc Fighter x 4 Luck Stone Troop 2 Kharg, Bull Orc Orc Warrior x 5 Troop 3 Kharg, Bull Orc Orc Warrior x 5 Troop 4 Gakalath, Orc Bull Orc Archer x 4 Troop 5 Hill Giant Troop 6 Hill Giant
rgtriplec
I like both of you guys Giant lists, I'd field either. Here is a list I used a couple times during playtesting. Reven - 994 points Troop 1 Gronkelfibbets and Mazak Gonda, Goblin Goblin Skeeter x 12 Goblin Ranger x 8 Troop 2 Neek, Goblin Gonda, Goblin Beastman Woodcutter x 10 Troop 3 Neek, Goblin Gonda, Goblin Beastman Woodcutter x 10 totem
