spiritual_exorcist 20
I can't see using this as the goblins in such small troops would be so ineffective, but it would be fun: Reven - 998 points Troop 1 Dantral, Half-Orc Book of Tactics Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 2 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 3 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 4 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 5 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 6 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 7 Hill Giant Troop 8 Hill Giant Troop 9 Hill Giant
rgtriplec 819
So, how would this list do? I think it could do okay as Bulls and Gnolls are as good as most core warriors. Reven - 999 points Troop 1 Kiakara, Queen of Khans, Bull Orc Gonda, Goblin Bull Orc Archer x 11 Troop 2 Neek, Goblin Gonda, Goblin Goblin Skeeter x 9 Troop 3 Gnoll Archer x 5 Albatross Amulet Totem

wildger 35
I really like this list. Hope that it will work.
spiritual_exorcist 20
Unfortunately Neek is a 6-12/1 leader so that list is a no go. I too wish it worked :) Not sure there are many ways other than what I posted to get 3 Hillies on the field Reven - 1000 points Troop 1 Dantral, Half-Orc Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 2 Ogg, Goblin Beastrider Goblin Warrior x 2 Troop 3 Ogg, Goblin Beastrider Goblin Warrior x 2 Troop 4 Ogg, Goblin Beastrider Goblin Warrior x 2 Troop 5 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 6 Urga, Beastman Goblin Warrior x 4 Troop 7 Hill Giant Troop 8 Hill Giant Troop 9 Hill Giant
Kengar 206
My copy of 2nd ed. rules has not yet arrived, but here's what I came up with using models I own & the online army builder program: Reven - 749 points Troop 1 Varaug the Great, Bull Orc Bull Orc Fighter x 6 Ogre Warrior Bonesplitter Armor of Courage Troop 2 Kharg, Bull Orc Bull Orc Archer x 3 Ombur Skulltooth, Bull Orc Familiar Armor of Courage Troop 3 Beastman Woodcutter x 4 Ogre Warrior Urga, Beastman Armor of Courage Troop 4 Luck Stone Thoughts? Edited re: JD's comments
jdripley 11
You'll have to put the Ogre Warrior into Varaug's troop (leaders may no longer take soldiers who cost more than they do), but otherwise it looks great! Props for using a Familiar, so few of us do. That's good stuff. Maybe move Kharg's Armor of Courage up to Varaug as well? That's just personal taste, but the +1 MAT will help Varaug to cleave more frequently, and a Mighty model that cleaves is just disgusting amounts of damage, so you want that to happen. Also Kharg will be fighting alone much of the time, and it's more likely that Varaug can share his Inspire bonus with others than it is for Kharg to share.
rgtriplec 819
Well, I agree with JD as far as changes go. But for 5 models you can really make your list much better. Varaug w/ Bonesplitter + enrage + frenzy makes him possibly the most devastating model in the game. The only thing is if you enrage him his dv drops. So, you add the Korgugs who have provoke that way Varaug has bodyguards to take defensive strikes. I put 2 of the Fighters in troop 2 with the Ogre to protect and screen your archers. I also added Yagun for offensive magic, he is a beast and can fight when his spell points are used up. The last thing I did was move Ombur to troop 3, and add two more Beastmen. IMO Beastmen are the best 12 points in the game. Reven - 1000 points Troop 1 Varaug the Great, Armor of Courage, Bonesplitter Korgug x 2 Bull Orc Fighter x 4 Troop 2 Kharg, Bull Orc Bull Orc Fighter x 2 Bull Orc Archer x 3 Ogre Warrior Yagun Oog Familiar Troop 3 Urga, Beastman Beastman Woodcutter x 4 + 2 Ombur Skulltooth, Bull Orc Armor of Courage

Stupid, I know (especially since I own the model).
jdripley 11
Nothing wrong with avoiding a model for fluff reasons. One of the great things about this game is that you aren't hamstringing your army by avoiding something for fluff reasons. Try doing that with Warmachine!
Stubbdog 78
Just wanted to hijack real quick to say that whiel i dont take 4 or 5 familiars, I take 1-2 of them almost all the time with my caster lists. The familiar's ability to regenerate spell points has been worth its cost more times than not.
Kengar 206
What about bugbears? Are they worth it? I have quite a few DHL ones.
jdripley 11
They look pretty solid to me. High DV, high MAV.. It's interesting to compare them to Bull Orc Fighters because they have the same cost. Bull Orcs have an extra damage track, so they can absorb more damage. Bugbears are just a smidgen better at everything, but have only two tracks. As a Dwarf player Bugbears appeal to me. I like solid stats, and Bugbears have the goods! Bearfoot_Adam 1
I've used both Bull or fighters and Bugbears very effectively. I really dig the bugbears Band ability
Kengar 206
So using models I already own, I might tack on: Gronk (73) Korgug (60) (using Krunkh, DHL 2515) Bugbear Warriors x 4 (140) for 273 points making it basically a 1000 pt. list.
