Reven

Recommended Posts

The army builder is invaluable for me; I just have to sneak a printing off at the office and then it's off to the races. As far as my force goes, I'll start a thread for it later, but I'm learning that I'll need some archers to get some wounds on those Dwarves at range, and take advantage of the Bloodlust of the Bull Orcs. The game has so much depth, but you don't realize how deep it goes until after you dive in!!!!!

By all means, you can ask about Reven stuff here. Or you can start a new thread dedicated to your stuff over in Warlord general.

In terms of identifying models, possible army builds, and such, we can help, but you can also use the army creator over at www.reapergames.com as it will give you the datacards and pictures as well.

Thanks, I will take all the help I can get.

I have visited the army maker, got some photos of my minis uploaded and I have started a thread over in the General area specifically for minis of uncertain origin.

Here is what I have to work with so far that are either authentic Warlord Reven models or known Reaper models:

[3] Black Orc Warriors (03489)

[1] Kagunk the Ogre Boss

[1] Bloodmane Gnoll Champion (bones? mini)

[2] Ettins (two heads; two clubs; 02479)

[6] Goblin Skeeters

[5] Bull Orc Spearmen/Hunters (using 02311 armored guy with trident as a proxy)

[1] Bugbear Bully (03245)

[1] Gorevane Ogre (02966)

[1] Treag Beastman Hero

[1] Kharg, Sergeant (14238)

[1] Harpy (way too much assembly required)

[1] Gargoyle Warrior (02379; possible Harpy proxy; see other thread for more possibles)

[1] Hargak the Flayer (03268; not sure if this guy is an orc or what, under the armor, might be a good Sgt for the spearguys above)

[1] Deckard (03389; possible proxy for a spellcaster/shaman)

[1] Harapan (01411; maybe he could be an Ogre?)

[8-11]Orc/Goblins (with sword/shield; assorted sculpts; 99% sure they are Reaper)(found some of their numbers 02124,02272,02287,02262)

So I have a figure inventory list and I'd like assistance turning it into an Army list. Doesn't have to be a good army list...

Here is the first stab at it using the Army Creator:

Reven - 998 points

Troop 1

Nor'Okk, Ettin [50x50]*

Traeg, Beastman Hero

Beastman Woodcutter x 5

Troop 2

Nor'Okk, Ettin [50x50]*

Korgug, Bugbear Bully

Bugbear Warrior x 3

Troop 3

Kagunk, Ogre [50x50]*

Goblin Skeeter x 6

Bloodmane, Gnoll Champion [Can I put him on a bigger base if I want to?]*

Troop 4

Bull Orc Hunter x 5

Dantral, Half-Orc

Harpy x 4

(Not sure how I got the funnny font sizes...)

*Edit: looks like just three guys on 50mm square bases the rest on 1 inch bases? Bloodmane is not gonna fit though.

I like the army list. I think you'll have a blast with it.

Good, that is the sort of help I was looking for. I am not familiar enough with the rules to be sure I am building a list correctly. That and alternative compositions using the figs I found in my Mountain of Lead. (But Bloodmane is plastic...and his blister only IDs him as a Gnoll Warrior  )

Yeah there is a few guys on a 1in base but seem to big... But thats what there data cards say so best just try make them fit... I usually put them corner to corner.

He might go corner-to-corner on a  40mm base. (Does Warlord use 40mm bases at all?)

Bloodmane Foesn't Dit . . . :upside: I guess I will just have him hanging off the back end of the base (might as well put him on a cavalry base...)

I'll suggest using your two Gnoll Marauders as proxies for the Bull Orc Berserkers. They look like they'd do nicely.

As for the Gnoll and base problem, welcome to the club. I'm using some old Chainmail Gnolls for my army needs, and they fit fine on the 25mm square.

Now let's all go give Tre Manor a hard time about the wide leg stance on this gnoll!!!

I'm not giving anyone that can sculpt like this a hard time. Right now I think my Gnoll Marauders are proxying for woodcutters (they are beastmen with great weapons...) but I will see if it works pointswise to make that swap. Thanks for the suggestion.

Edit: this comes out to 1000 points even, if carrying two luck stones is legal, and one less figure to carry (had to cut Traeg).

Yes Warlord uses 40mm bases, but base size is determined by the stat card. For Tre Manor's 2 1/2 soulder width stances I would build up the top of the 25mm base with cork to make it look more natural.

Two luckstones is not legal, sorry.

~v

Bother. It will just have to be 997 points then. The first list was 998. But the figs match the cards better this way.

( Wishing there were more denominations of small items to round off lists with ... I guess it was hard to come up with little stuff that was worth only a few points. )

Edit: found a way to get to exactly 1000 points and simultaneously solved the problem of Bloodmane dropping off his base.

Too bad I don't have any cork. I will ponder this. Pirate theme ... ponder ... ponder ... deck planking?
