Reptus

Recommended Posts

When I face Reptus, I bring my A game. It's always a tough fight, and I usually lose. Stubbdog spanked my with his Reptus at one tournament. I learned a lot about Reach models in that game. I usually can bust a Reach line, punch through to the soft Reach models, but not his line. And it was a cold snow board, which I thought should make them slow, maybe -1 to Tough at least.

And the last time I faced Reptus, Not Sure chewed me and Wildbill up and spat us out. I made a classic mistake, split my forces, paid the price.

See that validates my "Cheesy and Beardy" points.

So losing because of making a major tactical error against a good player = cheesey and beardy? Ok, if you say so. ik_upside.gif

No that was sarcasm which doesn't go over well in text.

So what armies out there typically have specific rules regulating their data cards in Reaper Tournaments? Hmmm... the Reptus are the only ones I know of (Gann-hor) off the top of my head. There are plenty other "cheesy and beardy" things about them, I just didn't feel like typing out a 1300 word dissertation about the army so I decided to go with a little bit of kidding around instead.

Well, the Darkspawn also had a ruling put to them for last ReaperCon restricting their ability to use both Barrage and Fire Shot on the same target at the same time. But, yep KT, I knew you were just bustin chops.

I am gonna bring a whole new level of Cheese this week. But, it wont be from Reptus..

Apparently, neither did mine.

Yes, I am well aware of that Gaan-hor restriction. I also know that I absolutely crushed a Reptus player in the RCon tournament this year, both from an objectives stand point and purely based on kills. I could infer from that, in the same way that you did with your experiences, that a) they aren't broken, b) I severely outclassed the person playing them, c) my list was more broken than the Reptus, or d) a combination of two or more of those. unsure.gif

I firmly believe that the core factions are well-balanced enough that it becomes luck, list, initiative, and tactics that decide the battles. I think that most of the other factions have the ability to generate equally "cheesey and beardy" combinations to the Reptus, but clearly, your mileage has varied.

If you were playing Elves (which I think you do) then you are correct. they are more cheesy than the Reptus. I also never used the word broken, just cheesy which is totally different.

I have decided to quit on my "snake and turtle only" theme. Just because I want a unit of Skullbreakers coming up the middle of the table! Or a nice mix of Skullbreakers, Warriors, and Archers. All led by the one and only Audt.

The snakes are pretty good solo, but I think the army needs something 'smashy' to hold the line, or break the enemy line. And I dislike Trolls.

Need Help

Trying to make a 1000 point army but not sure what else to add, I want it to be good for tournament play and i would like to include a Battle Totem as well.

Reptus - 620 points

Troop 1

Khong-To

+Sword of Feeding

+Troll Hide

T'Kay, Reptus Cleric x 3

Reptus Warrior x 6

Right now the main combo i have is Khong-To + SwordofFeeding + Troll hide + Iron skin from the Clerics. (It makes him beastly in close combat)

And if someone has a hyper-aggressive list and can alpha-strike Khong off the board, what do you do with your 3 clerics then? Always have a back-up plan if your main "gimmick" falls apart. Also keep in mind that this combo costs you nearly 400 point for Khong, the gear, and 3 T'Kays. You could field Nakaraat and the DT for the same price. blink.gif

I faced Elves yesterday and lost horribly! Well not exactly horribly, but I don't think I stood a chance in the long run.

Here is my collection:

Dragons

Khong-To

T'Kay x2

Ra'am

Nai-Khanon

12 Reptus Warriors

3 Reptus Skullbreakers

3 Reptus Longstrikers

3 Clutchling Archers

Snakes

I use snake-like models from some game I can't recall the name of. I have:

One leader model that looks like he is a warrior (Somchai?)

One leader model that looks like he is a mage (Ssudai?)

One leader model that looks like he is a combination of a warrior and a mage (Po-Wi-Set!)

Six snakes that can go as either six Warriors or Rangers, or go as two Rangers and four Warriors

Turtles[b/]

Chhaya x2

8 Spikeshell Warriors

Will be getting some sort of Dragon Turtle!!!!!!

Trolls

Uru

Uzkuluz

1 River Troll Warrior

Other Stuff

I will be getting:

Nakaraat

1 Krungbeast

1 Crymorian Warrior

Chai-Uut

Audt

Perhaps a few Clutchling Javeliners, as they are cheap points-wise and moneywise?

With the above stuff, can you give me some suggestions as to how to face Elves (Dragon, Treeman, a few cats, a few Royal Guards (?), dudes with two-handed swords, some other stuff), Nefsokar, Necropolis, Dark Spawn and Overlords, with the Elves being my most primary opponnent? Games will probably be at 750 and 1000 pts.

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated, I'm getting back in the game a little, after a break of over a year.

Thank you!

Well, since your opponent isn't taking an especially shooty elven list, you should be able to take pretty much anything you want. I'd probably bring some Crymorians or Gaan-Hor to properly threaten the dragon, but comboing casters would cover that equally well. Have you checked out any of the numerous builds listed in this thread? There are a number of generalist builds that should work just fine against most opponents (except, perhaps, gimmick builds), including my hybrid list (post #81), or the following stock list that I often keep in my case:

Reptus - 1000 points

Troop 1

Po Wi-Set w/Troll Hide

Uszkuluz Grayhide, Troll Shaman

T'Kay, Reptus Cleric w/Book of Tactics

River Troll x 2

Nagendra Warrior x 6

Troop 2

Chhaya

Spikeshell Warrior x 4

Troop 3

Chhaya

Spikeshell Warrior x 4

Troop 4

Dragon Turtle

Luck Stone

What's the future look like for Reptus?

I'm new to Warlord. My son and I have been playing CAV for years, and now suddenly out of the blue he wants to start Warlord. "OK, fine." I thought. He indicated that he really likes Reptus snakes, which is interesting since I prefer Reptus Mongokan. I'm not sure how this will work out; I guess in our house Reptus is about to have a civil war.

Anyway, I went to The Source, our FLGS, today to buy what models I could get from them for Christmas. They have a huge selection of Warlord models to choose from. I spent 30 minutes searching the wall and didn't find a single Reptus. Then I looked over and found a whole mess of them in the bargin bin. No snakes, but I got half of my army at 25% off. I asked the clerk why and he said that it is because Reaper discontinued them from distribution. So is Reptus no longer actively supported? Come to think of it, there were no Nefsokar minis either. I ordered the remainder of our armies tonight via Reaper, but I'm wondering if I'm too late to get in on the Reptus action.
