I have found the the light lancers make a good support unit for a large unit of archers with bless. One of my favorite lists almost an all lion lancer list. Its a lot of fun and there are a lot of cool twists and synergys you can use with it.

Troop 6

I think your troop combos are really solid; I personally love the mix of several knights with a couple unforgiven supported by ironspines. The knights take the punishment while the unforgiven and ironspines add extra higher-MAV attacks and support bonuses. Taking Acacia does hamper the ability to use a cleric like Halbarad to buff the ICA's with Blessing, but if you are ok with that, then go for it. Finally, the Luck Stone is a unique piece of equipment; you can only have one in your army list.

BTW, coming to OwlCon this year?

Heres a 750 point list I'm trying this weekend.

Gerard

Halbarad book of tactics

Marcus Gideon

4 Justicars

2 Unforgiven

@ Ironspines

Guardian Beast

749 points total

The plan is to use my casters to boost up everyone with extra attacks on the first and second turn.

Then crush my opponents toughest models.

Divine vigor is free and it stacks Gerard or the doom kitty with 5-6 atacks each giggity giggity.

I like your list! There is some serious butt kicking potential there. Who does the enemy focus on? Gerard or the Beast? And your elites are both versatile and capable fighters as well - casting, fighting... And maybe it's just me but I absolutely love having Reach models in any fighting company I build. So much potential in those pike/reach models, and they're usually fairly cheap on top of it all. Those models and Gerard's Warlord Ability will basically assure you support wherever you go. Then toss in a Bless from any of the three models that are capable of handing it out in that list... yikes! It will be a seriously accurate fighting company.

By my count your list is 746 points... Luck Stone missing from the copy/paste?

I'm not sure you can stack Divine Vigor like you say. I can't put my finger on why I think that, specifically, but I'd check up on it before trying it in a game. That said, passing out free Divine Vigors up to three times a turn is seriously awesome, even if some of them end up landing on Justicars.

Thanks JD

yeah I'm missing that luck stone.

I'll double check on the divine vigor but I beleive that in the book it says models states do not stack but spell effects do.

~Copied from my warlord blog~

So I have started to put my crusader army together. So far I have picked up Duke Gerard as my warlord. And Sir Brannor As a captain for my second unit to field. I also picked up an army pack of 9 Justicars. I have used the army creator over on reapergames.com to make more than a dozen different lists using these guys.

So far I'm pretty happy with these choices. The Duke is a bit expensive in points, But he is "the Duke" after all. I figure I might as well have my big bad be "the big bad" of the faction. Or Big Good in this case. I really chose Sir Brannor because he is a justicar and thought he would be a good choice since my army pack was all justicar. My one concern with the 9 justicar from the army pack is they are the most expensive soldier in my factions list.

I'm not sure if I want all 9 in one unit or split between two different units. Looking at the unit cards they are a very tough and solid unit though. Maybe I will use 6 or so at part of "the Dukes" posse. And then the other 3 as part of Brennors mob. With that in mind I could get an elite or two for The duke. Maybe Finari. Get a hospitlier for each unit. And round out Sir Brennors unit with a few Templar knights. This leaves a big question for a solo or a hero. I would love to just pick up Guardian angel, But a solo that cost more than my warlord may be a bad choice points wise with my target being 1000 maybe better when I shoot for 1500 points.

Another thing to consider is this list has no ranged other than spells. If I am looking to do 1500 maybe the next unit should be some Ivy crown archers.

I've pondered pairing Justicars in Gerard's troop with cheap War Dogs. The dogs would help increase your Troop count while offsetting the expensive nature of the Justicars. Take them at a 1:1 ratio and use that Disable to reduce the number of Defensive Strikes the opponent has against your Justicar, in hopes of keeping it at that 0 DT MAV value even longer. Gerard's WL ability grants Support with only 2 models, so those pairs get a boost to their MAV to a) make sure the Dog's Disable hits, and b) the Justicars inflict maximum damage with their two swings. Most opponents will only have a single swing if the Disable is successful; they can take the easy hit and kill on the dog, but that just leaves unwounded Justicars on the table, and they get harder and harder to kill as the game wears on. With that in mind, the list could look something like...

Crusaders - 970 points

Troop 1

Duke Gerard

Isarah, Cleric of Shadarzaddi

Justicar x 6

War Dog x 6

Troop 2

Sir Brannor, Justicar

Justicar x 3

Templar Unforgiven x 3

Templar Ironspine x 3

Troop 3

Hound of Judgment

With 30 points left over for equipment or some model tweaking.

You might want to also include the intended Doctrine for your lists and well as general thoughts regarding the strategy to be employed with them.

@shak, his is using the judgement doctrine, you can tell because of Garr as a sgt. But I agree, best to post the doctrine with your army list as it can make a fair difference to composition.

Using some similar models to what you have posted I think this might be quite alot more effective:

Crusaders - 1000 points The Righteous Doctrine

Troop 1

Lady Jehanne

Isarah, Cleric of Shadarzaddi

Sir Damon the Impetuous

Ivy Crown Light Lancer x 2

War Dog x 5

Ivy Crown Archer x 3

Valandil, Archmage

Templar Knight x 5

Troop 3

Sir Conlan, Lightbringer

Templar Unforgiven x 6

That was intended to be a general comment, as he'd posted lists here and in the O'lord thread, none with Doctrines or intended function.
