Heya folks, Tallyrand here. Long time painter first time poster, here's a group shot of some of the PC level minis that I have painted in the last year or so:

Just recently I've been painting again after a bit of a dry spell, and am always looking to improve my game, right now I'm working on including hand painted detail, and Non Metallic Metals. Someone on another board recommended coming here, and so, I have.

So Hellllooooooooo!

Okay, the, I'll do some single shots, let's start with our Eladrin Wizard. I'm really happy with the effect I got on his robe, it's even cooler in person, it's a kind of mother of pearl technique using the old Ral Partha Satins over a gray and white pattern. I also tried a light effect in his outstretched hand, which I'm not too happy with.

That staff used to have a spearhead on it that i clipped off, but I cut a bit too close on one side, and it didn't come out too even.

Next up is our Dragonborn Paladin of Bahamut, Opal. She started as a Magnificent Egos mini (whose website seems to have vanished into the ether) It was the only female humanoid dragontype I could find on the net, she was also holding a bow, and had a quiver of arrows across her back, so those got trimmed off, an axe head put on (a plastic GW halberd head), and a shield across the mess left on the back, the sash was made of green stuff, and also covers the wreckage from removing the bow. I'm pretty pleased with the Bahamut Head on the shield, I don't do much hand painted detail, but this came out pretty crisp.

This is the mighty wizard The Bom!, I painted him for the nephew (age 10) of one of my regular group for when I ran a one off game for her nephews and her, as they had decided that they wanted to Play D&D. He said his wizard needed blue robes with stars, a long beard, and a pointy hat, I said I could do that. As a wizard, you are expected to know everything, that's why I painted the "The More You Know" star trailing it's rainbow on his hat. I tried not to cringe and snap the mini out of his hand when I saw the nephew holding the mini upside down grinding the point of his hat against the edge of the dry erase board.

This is The Wong, mighty fighter played by the other nephew. Nothing too exemplary about this mini, very classic and neat paint job, I like how the blue on the shoulders and shield came out.

That's it for me tonight, I'll get some more up tomorrow.

They look great! Very vibrant. You are a brave man painting for a couple of 10 year olds!

One thing that skrikes me is that the bases clash with the minis a little. I think this is because the basing materials haven't been painted (correct me if I'm work) and therefore they don't have the same depth as the minis. I'd suggest doing a light drubrysh of a bone color and maybe a brown wash on the rocks, and a light drybrush of a bone, light brown or light olive color on the grass.

If you want to improve your NMM, I'd suggestion bringing the highlights up to pure white. That will give the metal and more shiny and metallic look.

Thank you for sharing your work and welcome ::):

Up next is Horzin Alehouse, an ugly little dwarf with a bad combover. Done with NMM and a handpainted empty tankard on his shield.

Jenova is correct, I don't usually paint over my basing matereals, by the time I'm gluing the stuff on, I'm done with painting.
