the spiders are hard to get accurate measurements of, because you can easily bend the legs to make them fit onto a larger base than we have them posed for, or a smaller base (within limits. obviously 3180: Cadirith won't fit easily or attractively on a 1" base).

Of the spiders involved, only the 02417 spiders have the measuring triangles in frame - http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/spider/latest/02417

they are the same size as the 3055 spiders, but hairy instead of hard shelled. They work as Large spiders best, although the abdomens fit within the 1" "medium" square. if you're a stickler about the legs being in the same square, then they are Large, and our only "medium" spider is 02593/03256

That being said - the easiest way to measure the spiders is torso size. Nose to Anus (so to speak) Cadirith is 80mm not counting the pedipalps, which extend a further 17mm. You could realistically fit Cadirith onto a base of 5-6 inches, like a CD-Rom or whatever you have.

The Huge Spider is 52mm from nose to anus, and 59 mm including pedipalps. He fits very easily onto a 3x3 base. 3.x and 4e have marginal differences in how they measure "huge" "gargantuan" etc.

I think spiders in D&D have their size categories determined by their body size, not leg span. The Arenea (intelligent shape-shifting spider) is medium-sized and it's body is about the same size as a human, which would make it's leg span much larger. So that would make the Huge Spiders large-size and Cadirith huge-size. I'm guessing the Giant Spiders are about 25-30mm long, which would make them medium-size.
