The creature Conversion pack has tentacles but they are organic. Not sure if that is the look you want. If you are looking to make your own take a look at throtle cables. The type I'm thinking of is a ridged metal one I haad on an old lawn mower. I think it could be the right size and is ridged and could look segmented. Or, and I just thought of this, you could try a metal gitar string. they come in different thincknesses and again are ridged for that mechanical look. Good luck and make sure you post you creation whatever you use.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I'll have to look into that guitar string idea :)

I just found some info on metal guitar strings and they are exactly what I am after :) A little touchup with a Dremel and I have my robot arms ready for the addition of some grapples etc.

Having a house full of guitar strings myself, I thought I'd mention that they also work well as sci-fi hoses and as industrial-use cables, amongst other things.

I read somewhere that they can also work quite well for pinning wire. Haven't tried it myself, but thought I'd throw that out there anyhow.
