Smokin'

All alone in the night

Recommended Posts

The security guard seems to notice the wounded man for the first time and, whilst still keeping a watchful gun pointed at the two, lifts his hand to his mouth and calls for medical assistance into his comlink.

"An innocent party and a good samaritan, eh?" His colleague, obviously the 'Miles' he called for, joins him. "Hands where I can see them, whilst my colleague searches you any way"

The second guard moves toward Missy, indicating she should hold her arms out to the sides. He at least has holstered his weapon.

"Care to explain why anyone would want to kill you, miss?"

"So Mr Daw, you are a trader too? Perhaps you are cheaper than this thief? You never usually drink in here, Mr. Darke - what has brought you out of hiding and made you such a generous host?"

It is very hard to tell, from his mocking tones, whether Londo actually likes Darius.

"Why'd anyone want to kill me?" Repeats Missy, in a (fairly lame) attempt at buying some thinking time. "I can't think of any reason why anyone would want me dead. I'm just a personal assistant, so I suppose one of my previous employers could want me dead to prevent me from talking about classified corporate information, but I don't believe I've ever worked for anyone capable of that."

Missy then holds her arms out and submits to the search, within reason of course. She is a lady :o)

"Londo as you know I havn't been on the station for long and I am just keen to keep trying places out. As for my generosity well, I like to keep my clients happy but only within limits."

Jack snorts around his drink. "I think you have me wrong, sir. I just hump cargo. At least until I get enough money to leave this station."

Meanwhile, back in the anonymous corridor, the other Jack is saying, "If there's anything else you'd like to ask me, officer, could it wait until I've escorted my client to his ship? It's boarding in ten minutes. Then I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have; I don't have any other clients to meet with today." He turns to Missy. "Although it occurs to me, Ma'am, that you might want to hire a bodyguard, at least until you can figure out who's trying to kill you. If you want to avail yourself of my services, I'm in the station directory. I'd give you a card, except I don't think this gentleman" (he gives a friendly nod to the officer) "would appreciate me reaching into my pockets just now."

He then waits patiently for the officer to search him and release him. Once that's done, he'll give Missy a business card and leave, heading for the docking bays. (Assuming, of course, that the Security officers have no objections).

Neither guard is buying Missy's lame attempt at a bluff. The search is thorough and professional, finding nothing, of course. They refuse Handy permission to depart, going straight away for the shockstick they detect in his jacket and removing it. The scared client is also dragged to his feet and searched, protesting his innocence in a voice so shaken that even the best actors of the day would not do better.

A trauma team arrive within a few minutes of the guards request (unbeknowst to Missy and Jack a 3rd guard has been doing his best to administer 1st aid to the stricken Commander Lewis) and he is very quickly placed on a gurney and rushed off towards medlab. There are now a large number of guards around the corridor - witnesses are being questioned, PPG residues being examined and quite a crowd has gathered, now that people are confident there will be no more shooting. Missy and Handy are the subject of quite a few stares, so many that the wirey technician

checking them out, palmpad in hand, goes absolutely unnoticed by anyone. The guards ask more questions of Handy and Summers but still seem unconvinced.

"Well, Miss Greenwood, Mr Handy and Mr Yamachi. I have to ask you all to accompany me. We need to ask you some questions and we can do that a lot more comfortably at Security central. If you come willingly we can avoid the inconvenience of handcuffs." With that 3 guards form up as escort, and begin to move the 3 'suspects' toward the nearest transport tube.

"I see. Well, duty calls Mr Darke. Even the lion of the galaxy must sometimes deal with paperwork. I would leave it to my assistant but , ah! You've met my assistant, haven't you. With him, a requisition for Brivari could start a major war... Goodbye, Mr. Daw. Good luck with your cargo humping" Ambassador Mollari sweeps out, pausing only to exchange his winnings for credits, say goodbye to some of the prettiest dancers and make sure everyone sees him leave. The bar seems a touch less bright without him.

The Centauri girl on stage has been replaced by a human, blonde and very athletic. A second Drazi has joined his compatriot in low conversation. The other pair, the Narn and the human with the heavy eyebrows, are just leaving. With the break-up of Mollari's poker game, a new grouping is sitting down and getting ready to ante-up.

With nothing else to do for the day Darius gets comfortable and watches the Human girl dancing. He keeps a half eye on the poker game seeing if it is worth joining, but he wants some idea of the other players before cutting in. "So Jack what are the tablets for ? They seem very unpleasant to take."

"They're for my back, is all. It's sore from time to time." Daw leans back in his chair, apparently untroubled by his back now that the painkillers have taken effect. "They're not a bitter pill to swallow, compared to the alternative."

Reagan follows at a discreet distance though he keeps his eyes mostly on his data pad. He shoots a message to Darius, it reads as follows;

Found your girl, Miss Greenwood.

bad number. 3 not 2 but they do have an armed escort to the security center. I'headed that way myself.

Large chap, carries cattle prod. Mr Handy

and a small business man. Mr Yamachi. The briefcase he is carrying must be speacial.

rumor- someone shot down corridor after guests departure. These 3 thought to be involved.

Reagan follows the group with his pad in hand looking up tech info just in case anyone asks.

Darius reads the message and ponders it for a while. Seems those humans were interesting afterall, I mean they have been on the station all of an hour and already they are being escorted to security. Might they be rivals, what was in the suitcase, hmm this needed looking into some more. He sends a message back :-

"Any more info you can get would be very useful. If you want me down there let me know."

Turning back to Daw he carries on the conversation while waiting further developments.

Daw is looking relaxed now that the Embassador is gone. He spends more then a few nights a week in the various station bars, and is comfortable people watching and making small conversation.

"Darius. I just want to thank you for the work you've provided. Let me know if you have anymore odd jobs that need doing. Every little bit helps."

Reagan smirks as he reads the note. He then keys up the data-pad with fingers crossed hoping there is a maintenance call in the security office itself, anything that will make is easier to overhear.

I will do what I can, no promises.

Reagan attempts to close the gap between himself and the escorted to overhear what the rear gaurds are talking about. He already has his story set up about just making rounds after finishing up his last project and thought he would check on the security station.

Darius reads the latest message, then turns back to Daw. "Hey I really appreciate the help, I mean I am the newcomer here and you have really helped get me set up. So I figure I owe you. Must admit I still find in strange having so many aliens around, while I have been around them all my live it has never been in such huge numbers. And boy that Vorlon guy .... that encounter suit gives me the chills, only seen it the once but ... "

The conversation winds on with Darius getting another round in.

OOC Just in case anyone misreads this Darius is in no way "Alienist" he is merely commenting it is the first time he has seen so many Aliens. He finds it cool and exciting.

"Mmmm," says Daw, into his drink. "You get used to them I guess. Down at the docks we have more then a few working. As long as they pull their weight, according to their nature, I don't really have a problem with them."
