nytflyr
finally decided on a design I liked for a step pyramid. this will be used for my lizardman army... then I realized I dont have a lizardman army... finaly size will be 12x12x6" not counting the last set of steps which will add 1-1/2" to the front. This is the top most step with a temple on top
Warlady
Wow! Very nice! Are you using a kit of some kind?
nytflyr
Wow! Very nice! Are you using a kit of some kind? no, it is being constructed using blocks made out of dental plaster using molds from Hirstarts.com
Jay_Bizzle
Looking very cool. Hirstarts is awesome! Are you going to add anything to make it look overgrown? Vines, shrubs, moss, etc?

nytflyr
Step 2: I did some calculating, this model will have used 350 linear inches (29 feet) of 1x1/2x1/2 blocks, 144 square inches worth of floor tiles, & 11 skulls
JimL
That's great, I've been wanting to try casting some blocks. Is it pretty simple?
nytflyr
That's great, I've been wanting to try casting some blocks. Is it pretty simple? for the most part, yes... I use Merlins Magic dental plaster, Ive tried Excaliber and wasnt happy with the results. basically you mix water with the plaster, stir until smooth, pour into the mold, give it a few minutes for the water to float to the top, scrape, wait a bit longer scrape again, then wait 30-45 minutes for it to dry. the hard part IMO is clean up
Jabberwocky
I really like the design, Nytflyr. I can't wait to it jungle-fied.

DavidVC04
It's looking great, so far! What kind of greenery do you intend to add? Some statuary would be cool. Get a reptus model or two and drybrush them up like granite or maybe with verdigris, or even gold, maybe?

Im going to use green railroad grass, growing up the stairs and in the cracks, Im going to experiment with silk flowers. everything is glued together now, it is ready for paint... as you can see by the bottom photo, the pyramid can be used for some minor storage
Kang
Simple, but very cool. I like it. Can't wait to see it with some paint and jungle terrain added! You are seriously tempting me to start using my HirstArts molds to make something more than just small basing tiles/bits again. My wife is going to hate you...
