joshuaslater
Actually I have enough of a rapport with Matt to break his stones like that. His standup on facebook is amazing, as well as his sculpting. Before the collapse of our economy, I've bought every sculpt he's done for Reaper, and many he did for Excelsior. On frothers I'm even more brutal, having called Tre Manor a jumped up hack and such, before giving him my cash. These previews of his are good as always, but I think he's done some that are better. Anne
The frost giantess (totally rockin!) and the native american chief are my favorites & I'm excited to buy them! All of the figures are looking good, great work sculptors! (*donning the painting party hat of happiness)
King Tiger
The new "Beholder" looks pretty nice too, was so excited about the dire croc. I didn't bother to scroll down till today!
Reaper User ReaperClark Posted September 2, 2009 Reaper User Share Posted September 2, 2009 Is she wearing a mask? Here's the scoop. Ron has to ask Wayne Reynolds what he intended. Now that said... If you look up pictures Inuit masks, this art work looks very much like one of these masks. On the other hand, if you think of the face as a kind of elfish face with bone piercings in the checks then it could just be her face. Bottom line, do what you want and it will be cool. We'll ask Wayne what he intended. Odds are it's either a mask or a face designed to resemble a mask to pay homage to the Inuits as she is a frost giant. Maybe the Inuit masks were meant to imitate her face... Will she be a P-65 exclusive like the other Frost Giants, or will we see her in the lead free (er) version of metal? lynnaea
I totally want to paint her up in frothy shades of ballerina pink... in my head she's singing "I feel pretty, oh so pretty..."
gaultj
Oh. My. God. Love the giantess. The damn Fire Giantess is still on my prep table, but I love me some giants. I could do without the mask, but still... Really, really like the Swamp Dragon. Really, really, really. Dragonmen, the Dervish, and Eye Tyrant are all really good, and I'm glad to see a dwarf magic user (and all the new action poses for dwarves). dks
Thanks for the praise, or at least discussion, on the Frost Giant Princess that I sculpted. Yes, she should complement Tre' Manor's new frost giant. (He finished it when I was about halfway done with the princess, but we compared the two figures at ReaperCon and they looked compatible.) @haldir: My Shadow King from 2006 was my only other figure bigger than 32mm, but he is a lot simpler and less voluminous. And, of course, he didn't have a side boob for Kelcore. So the princess is by far my biggest figure, as well as the most detailed (since I wanted to be faithful to Wayne Reynolds's concept art), and the most complicated to sculpt overall. To make the body hollow and save metal, I took my cue from Werner's Fire Giant Queen and made her in 3 pieces: spear with left hand, front half, and back half with right arm. @artisan (and others): I think you can see the concept art in the latest CasketWorks: she has big eyes without irises or pupils, and what I took to be piercings at the corners of her mouth. I intended this to be her actual face rather than a mask, but as Matt (ReaperClark) said, paint it like a mask if you want! Perhaps all frost giant women have faces like this, or perhaps she is blessed/cursed to be different. I imagined her as an eldritch, sorcerous, and strangely alluring young giantess, the precocious and wickedly bratty daughter of the chieftain, and the bane of many a poor Northman who loses his way when a blizzard descends and the wind howls. (I was also listening to The Sword's album "Gods of the Earth" a lot: track 2, "The Frost-Giant's Daughter".) I've stared at this face for so many hours that it doesn't even seem very strange to me anymore! Anne Foerster said she's about to paint the studio version of the princess, so I'm looking forward to it! Derek

Lawgiver
I really hope the Dire Crocodile gets added to the Razig faction. Good throw back to Peter Pan. Tick-tock... Tick-tock... Tick-tock... Any hints on the scale for the Swamp Dragon? How big is the circle it's sitting on? It looks like it has good proxy for the Reptus Dragonrider mount if it will fit on the Giant base. Frits Kuijlman
Like the croc, but wasn't there a picture with one with its mouth closed? And how big is the croc anyway?
DavidVC04
I like the frost giantess. I just purchased Tre Manor's Frost Giant yesterday and will pick up the giantess when she's released. I saw Anne working yesterday on the giantess. I only got a glance, but the hair alone was looking quite glam.
