Warwick
Who cares if a Bat Swarm can do anything, the image of a Vampire summoning a swirling tornado of bats to attack an enemy is too cool not to use a few times! So that brings up a LOS and SUmmon question. Which I asked in the topic title. Here's what I see. Crimson Knights line up against their mortal foes, the goody two shoes Crusaders. Can I Summon a Bat Swarm or two to appear in base contact behind the Crusader line?
ViciousPanzer
I believe so. There doesn't seem to be anything in the wording that states you need LoS. Infact it clearly states that the summoned unit has to be within 2" and from there it's free reign. Oh and you can't summon it into a space already occupied. But other than that yes, LoS is irrelevant it seems. Now get out there and give those namby pamby Crusaders the drubbing they deserve! Gus Landt
The Summoned SA does not list any LOS requirements, so you can indeed summon models behind enemy lines.
Qwyksilver
Against Crusaders, it is illegal. Against all other factions, totally valid tactic. Crusaders have a Protection from Evil circle that is a 2" AOE that prevents you from summoning Evil Models in that space. It's in my rulebook on page 62. Just ignore the fact that it is written in crayon. They didn't have time to add it before it went to print
Warwick
Cool, that's how we played it. Reaper was so careful about other LOS rules that I couldn't imagine them leaving it out unless it was intentional. This is good news. A very good reason to bring a Summoned model. And, dang, I have a Crusader opponent. Don't tell him, okay? Thanks, Qwyk!
Sir Drake
Wow, thanks Qwyk, I'll be correcting that Crusader omitted rule into my book in about 5 minutes. ;)
Brushmaster
Wow, thanks Qwyk, I'll be correcting that Crusader omitted rule into my book in about 5 minutes. ;) But make sure it's in crayon otherwise it's not legal .

Does it matter what color should I use? Are there official Reaper crayons or can I use proxies?
Qwyksilver
I used a Crayola's Macaroni & Cheese. By the way, don't let it fool you. It takes nothing like Kraft Dinner!
