haldir
just curious I played a couple of years ago but I found that the game was a bit hard to play. Not in the sense that you swing & attack or click the mouse to move, but to quest, get people together, etc etc. That I felt like I had to play a warforged barbarian to get anywhere in the game I got email in regards to the new launch coming up (downloading the game right now actually) & figured I'd ask if anyone was gonna play. Figure maybe we could start a guild/clan on there. RM
orcsoul
Do you still have to purchase a cd-key to do it? I looked a couple weeks back and that seemed to be the case. If so, I probably won't check it out.
Lorderl
I thought they were going free, has that changed? not that'll i'll planning on playing, thou i did also play it years ago
orcsoul
Well they're definitely switching to a free play basis, with optional subscription content, but it looked to me as if you still had to pay for the software in order to play. Spike
I looked in on it also..and kind of gathered likewise, Orcsoul. If it were truly free, I might take a look. I'm always up for a new flashy online time-waster, and while my heart belongs to FarmVille, there is little opportunity for half-orcs in the fascinating world of cyber-agriculture
haldir
Right now, if you've played before you can download (at least that is what I'm doing right now). just found this in their FAQs Free To Play! DDO Unlimited introduces an innovative new way to play - you can download and play DDO for free! For even more action and fun, you can purchase additional adventures, convenience items, and account services at your leisure from the new DDO Store. Can't get enough of DDO? You can even subscribe, becoming a "VIP", to get unlimited access to all of the game’s content. To learn more about playing for free or becoming a VIP, click here! orcsoul
Does that FAQ offer a link to where you can download the cilent and obtain a product key? The only thing I can do on the site is create an account, and doing that requires a valid product key for DDO.
Dilvish the Deliverer
The download is under support: here.
orcsoul
Ah hah, and who would think to look under the helpdesk section of a site to find a download *grumbles* thanks.. and turns out, no accounts can be made for DDO:U until sept
haldir
I believe since I was a former player I can get a jumpstart. As I was playing the tutorial yesterday while it was downloading (all 3.something gig of it)
Spike
Good to know I am not the only one having trouble finding out how to play. Looks like I'll be giving it a go in a few days when freebie game starts up.

Star Drifter
It sounds interesting on one hand, but only because I miss the fun of a tabletop group. I'm a little bit unsure that any MMO style game could ever really re-create that.
Remi
Some people I used to play DAOC with are gonna try it out.
Sergeant_Crunch
Since it's free I may give it a shot. Though I probably won't be able to play it for very long.
