Ok so we have started topics in the past about the best this, and the greatest that, so how about we list/discuss the most disappointing movie(s) of your life! You know the one that you looked forward to for months or years and went to the theater and WHAM OMG this is awful! For myself the movie is Godzilla starring Matthew Broderick. As a kid I was a huge Godzilla fan and when I heard a US version was going to be made I was ecstatic. Went to see the movie on opening night and was horrified by what I saw. The next day I saw an interview with the director who was asked what he used for inspiration for his Godzilla... his response... "I looked at lizards, and likened him to a giant Iguana." I nearly screamed at the TV! "You dumba$$ you had 30 MOVIES to get inspiration for Godzilla and you used ANIMAL PLANET! Ok now its your turn spit some venom at the movie that disappointed you most, venting does the soul good sometimes! :upside:

My biggest disappoint? Cthulhu (2007). The Shadow Over Innsmouth is probably my favorite H.P. Lovecraft story, and while the film worked well to capture the creepiness of Innsmouth, I really found myself challenged to get into this film. And I can't quite figure out why. My disappointment had little to do with the changes to the story or the addition of gay themes. In fact, I felt the latter really helped make the main character's sense of alienation from his hometown and roots tangible, especially to a modern audience. I think maybe it was the acting? Tori Spelling aside (which is just a clichéd criticism ), I had a lot of trouble believing the main character's motivation as to even staying in town. And a lot of the other characters just... fell flat. Seemed lifeless. And maybe the acting was supposed to be subtle in order to enhance the mystery behind characters and the town. Make them suspicious and alien. But I just felt a lot of the story was listless and insipid. It didn't grab me the way I'd hoped it would.

And maybe that's the problem. I brought too many expectations to the table. But then, I'm generally pretty good about viewing a piece for what it is, not what I want it to be. Just the same... blah. Lifeless. Such a bummer. ::(:

Blair Witch Project ... was hyped up as the scariest movie and blah blah blah... I watched it... and to this day I still want those 1.5-2 hours of my life back.. that movie doesn't even belong in the garbage bin i thought it was so bad. I'd rather watch galactica 1980 reruns all day.

Definitely second this opinion. What a crock that movie was.

Dungeons & Dragons. I didn't expect much going in and years later it still made my list. How bad does a movie have to be to pull that off?

Second this! I even had a reunion of all my old D&D buddies to go and see it. UGH. Snails is waiting for you......

I also have to say the 2nd D&D movie was pretty bad but in some aspects it was better then the 1st.

The D&D movie was awful, but at least there was a moment of fan satisfaction when they killed Jar-Jar. And technically, the ending was them all getting caught in a Magic Jar spell (watch it and you'll agree) and thus making sure they'd never darken a movie's doorstep again, so it's all happy in the end.

Lynnaea, did you mean the first Live Action Transformers, or the original animated?

Wow, I'd forgotten about the original animated film. If I recall it was a stinker too.... basically they used it to kill off the entire first generation of transformers to make way for the second generation of toys/characters to sell.

But no, I'd meant the live action film.

For that matter, I remember being very disappointed that Robotech: the film never made it to theaters in the US.
