DARK ELF
like the topic description says,do these minis have better detail then the rest of the Reaper line?
shakhak
Different kind of metal and lower prices. http://www.reapermini.com/P65FAQ

Lars Porsenna
They're basically (for the most part) minis from the standard Dark Heaven line cast in a lead alloy rather than pewter. Detail should be comparable. I will say I had some misgivings, but the lead alloy is actually pretty good; not like the alloys used back in the bad old days of lead... Damon. haldir
I for one don't notice any differences between the 2 lines. Granted I've yet to pick up a P65 recast of DHL figure, but the 3 or 4 that I've gotten have all looked great. Not to mention the pricing is great & if the minis in question were made with the DHL metal, it would have cost allot more. Love my Reaper figs but pricing can get in the way sometimes!! Lyn
Different kind of metal and lower prices. http://www.reapermini.com/P65FAQ nice, but is the detail any better? I have both Dark Heaven and P-65 lines of many of the Reaper figs and I can honestly tell you that the P-65's have just as good detail wise as the dark heaven and Chronoscope lines. I have been buying Reaper figures since 1997. As everyone else has said the only differences is different metal and lower prices. I hope this testimony helps
Reaperbryan
We used the same metal masters to make the P-65 molds as to make the DHL/Chronoscope/Warlord molds - so detail, clarity. etc should be precisely the same. Apart from weight and feel, the P-65 model would be the same as it's counterpart - oh, and the "p-65" carved on the underside of the base or upon the tab. joshuaslater
At the risk of threadjacking, has Reaper made any decision on CAV/P-65? I know it was discussed or suggested 'round here someplace, and it can't hurt to ask nicely.

I never noticed that before. then again, I've only gotten the P65s that are exclusive to that line (ie the giants, the eye tyrant (ok I never picked that one up in Warlord)) RM
psyberwolfe1
The only real drawback is if they are dropped it can smush the details on the side they landed on. Translated: the metal is pretty soft.
joshuaslater
With my skill at dropping my CAV models on the floor, maybe I'll stick with what's offered and just be thankful.
MikeD
Love my Reaper figs but pricing can get in the way sometimes!! Huh, guess I have been conditioned to the costs of pruchasing entire armies of GW figures, then (where a playable army can easily cost over $300 to build). One of the things I like about collecting Reaper figures is the very reasonable costs of their offerings. In comparision, its just pocket change! joshuaslater
Even if you don't buy armies of GW, other wonderful models from around the world can be pricey. It's an expensive hobby. I think we sometimes get spoiled by having Reaper available in the States.
Bruunwald
Let me add, though, that if you're into conversions, the P-65 can be somewhat difficult to work with. Now, I'm talking heavy conversions like cutting something big in half or removing entire parts. I buy the P-65 version when available because it costs less for a piece I intend to basically destroy. But the time and resources (read: dremel bits) it takes to get the same amount of work done, would almost justify buying the normal piece. It's just really hard and heavy metal. That is not to take away from the benefit of having the cheaper piece available under normal circumstances.
