demonelf3
Done! Water came out decent, the blood looks great IMO, just the water color is too blue for me. Oh well, live and learn. I had a great time, and thanks to all for helping me fix it, especially the pec. A bigger write up on my site soon, http://milesofminis.webs.com (not up yet) and on the cmon link. C&C always appreciated. Thanks for looking! http://www.coolminiornot.com/232833
Nameless
cool paintjob! oh, just wanted to say it's not a 54mm scale.
demonelf3
Yeah, on the site it says 32mm, but really, it's basically the same as any 54 fig you'll get. I just consider him that way. Thanks for the comment, I will change that.
DavidVC04
Looks frickin' sweet! And now I see. I was totally wrong on the base. I missed that you were doing water effects. I love it. Bang up work.
demonelf3
Yeah, I didn't really make it known that that was my plan. But now you know. =P
psyberwolfe1
Great model. Thanks for the WIP on it. The only critique I have is that if he just beheaded someone why is there no blood in the water? I was wondering this on the WIP before you added the water. Relieving someone of their head is a messy business.
Jabberwocky
Turned out great, DE! The water effects are nice and the strong highlighting really came out well. I'm off to vote--hopefully you'll get the well deserved magic 8...
demonelf3
Jab: Thanks, here's to hoping! psyberwolfe: the blood is in a cloud around the head, it's in the second pic. Maybe I should have put more. =(
MamaGeek
Very well done. Yet another super job!
psyberwolfe1
Jab: Thanks, here's to hoping! psyberwolfe: the blood is in a cloud around the head, it's in the second pic. Maybe I should have put more. =( Now that you pointed it out I see it. It is real subtle. Maybe a concentration of red near the stump might help, but what do I know? I haven't played with water features yet.
Whizard Hlavaz
Very beautifully rendered. The high contrast is very attractive and adds a lot of character to this piece. With the murky waters and dark base, it appears as though he's standing under the intense glare of a full moon. It really tells a story. Great work. Gratz on a lovely piece. Sanael
Obviously, I need to take lessons in contrast from you. Even on the tiny details, everything on this mini has its own distinct reflective "texture." Really brings the whole thing to life. The composition of this piece is incredible...I really enjoy that you put in something compelling for his eyes to focus on. As for the blood, I'm not too put off by the relative lack of blood around the head, simply because there's no body in evidence. My mind pretty quickly concocted the story that the head was severed a bit farther from the shore, then kicked into the water during battle. Most of the "loose" blood in the big arteries and veins would've already tasted freedom, and what's left in the smaller veins and capillaries would be oozing slowly into the water, creating the "halo" you've made. And, possibly more important than all that, with this amount of blood I can see the head...with more blood, I'd be worried it would look as though he were staring at a pool of bleeding water, the head would be so obscure. demonelf3
Thanks for the kind words guys! Sanael: Yeah man, I really am trying to tell a story with each figure now. My first after GenCon, Bruce, didn't have one, then Logan who sort of did, then this guy who I feel really does, and then the as yet unrevealed Tyrion Lannister, arriving at Winterfell! Story is getting to be one of the most important parts for me!
bikerdrew
Great work on this one - the water effect is excellent and I really like the skin tone.
