Chrome
My two all-time favorite game trailers/intros were from the original MechCommander and Baldur's Gate games. MC's video was just awesome and told an actual story that got you pumped up and ready to play the game. I'd honestly sit though the 4-5 minutes of it almost every time I played the game. BG's intro was just bad butt and while it seemed unrelated to the game at first (other than featuring the bad guy from the box) a ways into the game you found out that the event in the intro actually happened in game and were an important part of the story. I suppose that being the late 90's and being two of my first video games they've had a bigger impact than most other trailers. I mean they don't come close graphics-wise to anything put out in the past 5, hell, 7 years, but they had something that triggered that raw emotional reaction that still makes me load those games up once a year just to watch the intros again. I now have a new #1 though. http://dragonage.bioware.com
haldir
very nice!!! I've heard bits & pieces about the game, but never really seen anything like that about. Awesome battle. I haven't been playing many games lately on the 'puter, other then a couple Facebook aps & LOTRo but I may have to get DA when it comes out. SIGIL
I don't know. I am sure that gameplay will be great and the story very well crafted but there are a lot of things going on in there just turn me off like a switch. Knights with no helms for one. An archer that moves as if she were not subject to the same gravity as everyone else , and a mage who fights every bit as well as a seasoned warrior..... I don't know..... Where's my old school fantasy games dammit??
Vil-hatarn
Wow...that was... Definitely going to look into this...
Chrome
I don't know. I am sure that gameplay will be great and the story very well crafted but there are a lot of things going on in there just turn me off like a switch. Knights with no helms for one. An archer that moves as if she were not subject to the same gravity as everyone else , and a mage who fights every bit as well as a seasoned warrior..... I don't know..... Where's my old school fantasy games dammit?? There are plenty of helmets in the game. Those characters in the game are NPCs who can join your party, so its kinda vital that you see them as people and not a suit of tin. As for the other characters, the archer (she's a rouge actually) obviously has some magic in her bag of tricks too. And even AD&D had fighter/mages. Balder's Gate came out right before 3E came out and my two best melee characters were a Fighter/Cleric and a Fighter/Mage. Oh, and the dude who pushed all of those grunts off the cliff and then jumped 20' into the air to cut the dragon is some kind of half-giant race, so yes he has super-strength. I can't wait for Nov 3rd! The new V series premieres on tv that night too!
haldir
looking forward to the new V series, as I was a big fan of the old series (even if it did have Robert Englund in it, ha ha) Just read some of the background, the shapeshifter mage is suppose to be the main character's lover. The mysterious part of the quest.
Chrome
If DA is anything like Mass Effect was, there's probably the opportunity/choice of having more than 1 love interest. In ME you had to choose between 2 characters. Also, if any of you guys are fans of the KOTOR series or ME, it sounds like the voice over for the leader of the group in the Dragon Age movie is the same guy who voiced Carth Onasi in the KOTOR games and Kaidan in ME: Raphael Sbarge. I loved his performances in the KOTOR games so I'll be happy to have him tag along in DA too.

haldir
yup liked both KOTOR & ME (never did get K2). Good info to know. I may have to go put this on preorder at Gamestop this Saturday--pre-order item is some sorta Dragon blood armor you can use in ME2 later. Chrome
According to the DA website you don't need to pre-purchase the game to get that Blood Armor. It comes free with the game, along with The Stone Prisoner, a Stone Golem NPC who can join your party. http://dragonage.bioware.com/addon/ There will also be a downloadable area available on launch day for $7. Its an additional map, some quests, and several good pieces of loot.
Chrome
After doing some more looking around, while the Blood Armor is available to everyone, there are some pre-order extras and they differ from retailer to retailer. If you preorder from Direct2Drive.com, you get a Dalish Promise Ring (not sure if you have to play as a Dalish Elf to wear the ring or not) and a Formari Memory Band. Download from Impulse and you get the Formari Memory Band and apparently the Warden's Keep DLC which everyone else will have to pay $7 for to download from EA/Bioware. They claim to have a limited number of the free download codes. I know that GameStop.com has some extra gear too, but I can't access the site from work. The Collector's Edition box comes with exclusive pieces of equipment too. The Lucky Stone gives +1 to all stats. Lion's Paw Boots gives a bonus to armor, dodging, and evading ranged attacks. The Edge is a magical dagger that apparently has a lot of bonuses to dmg and crits.
Reaperbryan
An archer that moves as if she were not subject to the same gravity as everyone else So the archer has Boots of Striding and Springing. Where's the issue with that?
SIGIL
The fact that there is such a thing as " boots of striding and springing ". ;) DOn't get me wrong, I don't mind boots of Elven kind that bestow silence, or maybe a tiny boost to jumping, but not limited flight, it just kills my suspension of disbelief. Any item that bestows a POWER should be unique, hard to find, and dangerous to use in one form or another. Just my opinion.
