Chrome
Hahaha I finally got around to bumping uglies with one of the NPCs. 'Cept that ever since I bought a Proving Helm (big black armored helmet like the ones the dwarven legions of the dead wear) I've had a bug that keeps the helmet on my toon's head during the cut scenes. Everyone else looses their head gear, but mine stays on. Apparently the bug goes even farther than just the helmet, b/c in the bedroom scene my character got it on w/Morrigan wearing his entire suit of armor! haldir
****WARNING: MATURE LANGUAGE***** http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie...gon-Age-Origins Sums it up pretty well for me.... Nice! Funny thing is the 'reviewer" sounds like a truck driver we get occasionally at work, ha ha
Chrome
From what I've heard/read from Yahtzee, I wouldn't give his reviews an ounce of consideration. He's pretty much everything that's wrong with journalism today- that is he's just a bunch of opinionated hot air with no actual journalism involved. This review is a perfect example of his typical BS. He goes on and on about everything about the game that he dislikes, then in the final 30 seconds or so says "but after playing this for 25 hours I still want to keep playing it". So he does evidently like the game, he's just too cool/anti-establishment/whatever to say so. BTW, anyone buy the game guide for this yet? I'm wondering if its worth it or not. I'm just about done w/my first time thru and thought that for the next one I'd play on easy b/c all I'm really concerned with is the different choices, stories, etc, and I thought the guide might give me a few insights into doing things differently. orcsoul
I don't generally buy strategy guides, as everything you can get in them, and more, is available for free and in a more updated format online.
Vil-hatarn
Yeah, I've heard on the Bioware boards that there are a bunch of errors in the printed guide--you can find most of it online.
Lancer
When I eventually get this...I'm gonna be a Shadowhumper.
Chrome
Got any fansites you guy's would like to share? I haven't looked very hard, but the only two I've found are both incomplete on the little content that they do have.
orcsoul
I usually head over to the gamewinners/gamefaqs site for walkthrough/strategy information http://www.gamewinners.com/Cheats/index.ph...e:_Origins_(PC)
Chrome
Yeah, I've heard on the Bioware boards that there are a bunch of errors in the printed guide--you can find most of it online. Part of the reason for this could be that there's a lot of bad info in the game itself. There are several Talents that don't do what their description says they do. For instance Rally says that it gives your party members a bonus to Attack and Defense and that the 3rd Champion skill increases the Def bonus. But if you compare your characters' stats w/Rally active and with it turned off, all it does is give a bonus to Attack. You don't get the Def bonus until you actually learn the other talent. I've seen a few posts about other skills like that, so I'm sure its entirely possible that the book's author simply wrote down what somebody at Bioware told him the skill did, then for whatever reason the programmers changed the way the skill worked. Back to playing the game - I started my second play thru last night and I have to give it to Bioware... not only am I looking forward to playing thru again (something I rarely do with other games, even if they do have multiple endings) but I'm actually playing as a Rogue, a class that I wouldn't touch w/a 10' pole in D&D. And I'm having a blast so far. Part of that tho is b/c I can't wait to start causing havok in the storyline by taking all of the morally gray/kill 'em all options. Jay_Bizzle
I like his "reviews" because he makes me laugh. However, I don't take *anything* he says seriously from a game reviewing standpoint. While some of his observations are true, and told in a hilarious manner, I've found the majority of his rantings and ravings are about things I actually like in a video game. That review about Dragon Age was pretty funny, but not his best work.
Lancer
Ok, so I finally got a used copy of this game (the CE version for the PC no less). I signed up (on my video game trading site) for any version (PC or PS3, both standard and collector's of each) so I could get a copy faster. One and a half months late, one finally comes up. The guy i got it from had of course used the keys for the DLC, so no special items or Warden's Keep. Also the tin case and cloth map are meh. But onto the game. It started out cool. I played a female rogue city elf. I loved the "origin" story and even onto the Grey Warden's demise. But after that, it turns into a standard RPG. "The <insert omnipotent evil force> is running amok to destroy the world, but you are the only one that cares enough to try and get an army together to fight them." I didn't even care about my betrothed dying, why would I care about the rest of the world? Anyway, I got tired of the endless dialogue and the ridiculously chaotic combat. Then I had a save game issue and glitch which would have made me replay the last 4-5 hours of real time, so I just said forget it. I was not liking the mechanics of the game anyway, and was not about to have the patience to go back and replay a couple hours of content. On a side note, it didn't seem like the choices I was making had that big of an impact, although that was one of Bioware's main selling points. I found the Witcher and Drakensang to be better and I only got about half way through both of those before giving up.
Chrome
I got tired of the endless dialogue That was one of the game's biggest selling points. Like way more spoken dialog than any previous Bioware game ever. Didn't you know what you were getting yourself into when you bought the game? Chrome
BW officially announced an expansion pack due this spring. www.dragonage.bioware.com/awakening Note its not DLC, its a boxed product. New quests, 5 new party members, all new locations. The Return to Ostragarr DLC was supposed to come out today too, but at the last second BW said it would be delayed w/no reason why or when to expect to see it.
