I just finished the Fade portion of that storyline last night and I have to say that I loved it! It totally changed the way the game played for a little while, w/out reverting to some totally trash mini-game like a lot of games do.

@Decado - it doesn't sound like you have the rest of your party with you. Before you go to the central node and fight the Sloth Demon you need to go to the 3 "Nightmare" nodes around the outside. Each one of them belongs to one of your party members and they'll join you in the final fight. Once they're all there, its not to hard if you have Wynn there to keep you healed up. The only time I used one of the forms my PC could convert into was when the demon changed into its Rage form and started throwing fire spells. I went over to Burning Man form then, so I didn't take any damage and Wynn only had to heal Allistair.

DOH ... that's no good.. where/how do you get reaver? Do you have to make a deal with a demon?

Not a demon, but an NPC. You encounter him in the dungeon while trying to get Andraste's Ashes and the only way to continue to the story is to help him or kill him. If you help him, he'll teach you Reaver but you fail the main quest and can't learn Champion from Arl whatshisname. If you kill him you can learn Champion, but you obviously can't learn Reaver.

Kinda pisses me off b/c those are the only 2 specializations like that in the entire game. Every thing else you can either learn from an NPC or learn from a book all in one play thru. So why did they decide to make these two the way they did?

He is located at the very center of the Fade. He changes into an ogre once the fight starts. II get a few hits, I am playing a dwarf warriot, but the fight is over quick.

Hmm...that is tricky. I'm a mage, so I always use crushing prison or petrify to deal with ogres.

Don't think it'll work on this guy. He's not really an ogre, just a demon in that form. I tried using it on him twice and he just shrugged it off both times.

BTW this demon's last form is the most lethal. He starts casting spells like crazy. Chain Lightning, Blizzard, Crushing Prison. Ouch. First time I got that far he finished my rogue off w/CL, put my PC in Crushing Prison, killed Allistair, and then just casually backhanded Wynn into next week. I had to just sit there and stare at the screen while Crushing Prison killed my PC.

The next time I made sure that all of my party was at top help right before I finished off the demon's 3rd form. Chain Lightning still hurt, but I could stay on top of it w/Wynn's healing. He still put my PC in Crushing Prison too, but I managed to kill him before my PC died.

When you approach the demon it should trigger a conversation and it was during that conversation when my allies appeared. Maybe you have to use the right conversation options to trigger them, and if you choose the "Die now" option right off the bat they never get triggered?

BTW I forgot to mention yesterday that when I was in the Fade and had to fight one of the Ogres there, I triggered the finishing move for them. Talk about freaking sweet!!!! I stuck my axe in his stomach and used it to pull myself up his body, then buried it again into his chest and rode it down and it fell backwards. Then hit him again in the neck/chest area again apparently for safe measure. It was just like in the cut-scene when Duncan killed the ogre. ::D:

I am going to give it another try. So far the game has really not blown me away. I think The Baldurs Gate series and the spin offs, even dated, are a better game. Neverwinter Nights was also in my opinion a better game. The graphics in DA are ok but more of a let down compared to other games made today and contribute to my blah feelings towards the game.

I was going to get this on the PS3, but after reading some of the posts here, I am reconsidering. My only problem is that I don't have a dual core. I have the Athlon 4000 (their top single core, when they still made them), 3.2 ram, and 8800gt gpu. I have downloaded the character creator and that seems to run fine, but I'm always hesitant.

I'm running it on a 2 GHz single core laptop with significantly less graphics capability than you just listed--you shouldn't have any problems. It's been running fine on low graphics settings for me--they did a really good job of scaling the graphics quality to keep the requirements flexible.

Just finished the game on my first playthrough. I absolutely loved it. I haven't been enthralled by an rpg like this in a very long time. There's a lot of things I know I'd do different the second time through, so I'm looking forward to my second playthrough. Great story, awesome character development, fun gameplay. Another bonus: girlfriend loves the game too, so she doesn't give me the gears for playing it hours on end like she might when I play other games :P
