She's gorgeous! I have that mini and I've been hemming and hawing over how I want to paint it. I am half tempted to treat the snow flake like a spider web and paint her like a drow champion or something.

Since I'm a newb and trying to soak up knowledge, how did you do the wet look? Did you use a brush on shiny coat on just those parts?

Thanks for all the compliments!! Paint color wise I don't have many Reaper paints yet (working on it, I love the ones I have so far), so I'm not sure what the equivalents would be called. I am mostly using GW paint pots and inks and a few Vallejo paints that I have had for a while. For her skin I used thinned midnight blue for most of the lining with a little black in a few areas. Variations of midnight blue mixed with white and shadow grey, and also some washes of liche purple (a warm violet purple), pale sand and ivory (Vallejo). For her armor I used variant gradations of midnight blue, and hawk turquoise. The armor I painted in a similar way to painting a gem, and the highlight spots of white create the illusion of a shiny surface. I used Krylon Matte Sealer at the end, though I am planning on going back to the ice crystals on her base with some brush on gloss varnish to bring back the sparkle there.

I'm not sure a wip thread would be helpful although I could try it.. I tend to meander alot with the decision making of colors... and parts... often times changing horses totally in midstream which could be a bit odd or confusing for people watching hahaha! Hmm something to ponder.

Actually that is what makes most WIP's interesting. They let others in on your processes and many times someone else does exactly what you do. You would be suprised how helpful WIPs are to both the writer and the reader.

BTW I really like the skin tones. They are probably my favorite. The blending on the armor seems a little abrupt but hey that might be what is giving it that made of ice feel.
