We ship out a few hundred a week and don't have much trouble. Where are you mailing them to? Mexico?

No, not Mexico. You'd never see them again.

Sounds like you need to talk to your local postmaster. If you're sending eBay sales, don't be surprised when buyers claim non-receipt, hoping for a freebie. I can't recall experiencing more than a couple of legitimate returns or lost packages, ever.

Sounds like you should really talk to your postmaster and find out just why these items are being returned. It could be something simple or it could be the people on the receiving end are schmucks and gave you the wrong address.

As far as the online postage for eBay, you have to drop those items off at the post office for the zip code you're shipping from. Example being that I can't take our online postage items for the store to the Topsham post office because the zip code for Topsham isn't the same for Brunswick, where we're located.

I stopped having problems when I started using Delivery Confirmation. They actually do not track the package (beyond telling you when it was handed over to them and when it was delivered) but somehow they manage to not lose them.

I've only ever had problems sending one package, and that is because the box came apart in shipping. (Partly my fault, since I was reusing a box, but it was well taped, so it had to get caught on something sharp or really abused to came apart like it did.) Now - receiving is an issue. We had an election on Tuesday, but I still have about a 50/50 chance of receiving campaign literature for it until about Thanksgiving. Mailing from here to say, Chicago is 2-3 days out, 6-8 days coming back. Sometimes more.

But every package I mail uses delivery confirmation, just to avoid the "I never got it, you owe me a refund" routine.

really don't have any problems with USPS, other then it's a bit slow sometimes. Thou when I order minis or other gaming products from back east or mid-west it's fairly quick. Seems that it's the slowest when dealing with eastern companies, such as one in Smyrna GA :grr:

Maybe you have one of these mail carriers in your area:

We have really good luck with the USPS in our area - I've run into the same problem that HT talks about because I live on the edge of two post codes - but other than that, the Post Office is no worse for me than FedEx and UPS. I do a lot of shipping and receiving through all three (not as much as some, but far more than average), and none of them are perfect. Regionally, though, certain carriers are worse - I've got areas where I ship UPS rather than Fedex because of too many problems, and vice versa, and still other areas where USPS is my best bet.

In the past they have always been pretty good for me, but this year the USPS sucks. I don't get a whole lot of things shipped to me, but this year I've had three non deliveries. Two were from Reaper and the other was an e-bay purchase. That's about a 50% loss rate for the year. Not good at all. Apparently your packages go through the same crack using shipping handler that mine do.

I have no problems shipping out from here but when I get the chance I'll also not mail from here and prefer the neighboring town or the major hub 30 mins away. Receiving packages can be really fun if they don't fit in a mailbox. Depending on the carrier delivering I either get stuff just fine or they will not have it on for delivery at all and *maybe* I'll get a "come pick this up" notice or they have it in the car but don't bother to come to the door and notices are hit and miss if I get one left. If it doesn't have tracking that just makes it even more fun. After this past week I'm going with UPS or FedEx from now on when I have the option for stuff mailed to me. :/

For some reason, Federal Express cannot tell the difference between my street and the street behind my house, which runs parallel. Instead of delivering to my address, they deliver to the same address on the street behind mine.

The two streets have completely different names. Only the numerical address is the same. This happens about every fourth delivery. I'm sure I've got at least one Fed Ex driver in hot water over that.

But the Post Office, for all the bad press they get, has never screwed up anything to and from my home. Not that I know of, anyway. When I order it or send it out, it gets there.
