Nomadik
I'm just curious if there are any spray paint cans at either a hardware store or Michaels that is acrylic and will work with miniatures? I'd love to get some base colors in a can to use for my miniatures, but GW has ridiculous prices on their cans of paint, and I don't believe Reaper has cans of paint, and my local store doesn't carry Reaper paints these days(or else they relocated them in the shop). billr
A lot of people swear by Krylon. I had a bad experience with it though. Real bad. I have heard that montana gold is good http://www.cheapjoes.com/rd/13120_home_090...-gold-spray.asp (I haven't used it -- although I plan to try someday. Also never used that online seller). Qwyksilver
Rustoleum's Painter's Touch Spray on Primer has worked quite well for me over the years. I wouldn't use it if you're thinking competition, but it's more than sufficient for table top.
John Lee
I use Plasticote white primer, available at most autoparts stores, it has worked well for me. John
GreyHorde
Army Painter makes good base color primers, and they cost a bit less than plain old GW primer. They come in a whide range of colors like red, blue, metal (steel?) and 'necrotic flesh'. You're saving a ton of time by spraying a basecoat and primer in one shot. Try the War Store or Miniature Market.
nytflyr
Go to O'Reillys auto parts and pick up duplicolor sandable primer. it is the best primer I have delt with and it is about 1/3 the cost of GW primer. It comes in white, black gray & brown.
MikeD
A lot of people swear by Krylon. I had a bad experience with it though. Real bad. I'm supprised to hear that, but I suppose every manufacture has a bad batch slip though once in a while? I had repeated problems with GW, Armoury, Flouqil and other hobby primers that required stripping and re-priming dozens of miniatures. However, about 5-6 years ago I switched to Krylon primers, and have never had a problem with primer since. The fact that Krylon costs less than 1/2 what GW spray does is just icing in the cake! Not acryllic, but the Testors has a few flat coats that I use and work well. I think I have used the flat red, flat olive green, black, and grey, and all work esentially as a primer and you can paint right over it no issues. But, like I said, it is neither a primer nor is it acryllic. It is available at Michael's and Hobby Lobby.
