Black Orc Hero

Well, I finally got started on my exchange mini. Just the base coats now and I built the base, still needs a few fiddly bits added to it. It started out as a piece of flooring, I cut it to size, routed an edge on it, the sanded and finished it with laquer. More photos and a bunch of other stuff on my website, www.thebrassdragon.com. Comments, CC, etc. welcome.

Thanks,

John

Finally got some more done on the Orc, Holiday overtime in the lab put a dent in my paint time. Here's some shots of what I've got done so far. I still need to tweak the armor some more, touch up the flesh here and there, dull down the teeth, and I'm not real sure of the eyes. The leather didn't turn out quite like I had hoped. What do you think? Would you be happy if you recieved him?? More pictures can be found at www.thebrassdragon.com.

Thanks in advance,

John

I really like the armour plates.

I agree with you about the leather; it's pretty orange-y, very much like the rust on the armour. Maybe that's the bit that looks off? How about a thin khaki wash to mute the vibrancy of the orange and smooth out the blends between the highlights and shadows? (I'll be the first to admit that I tend to think "bright, sharp highlights" when I paint leather, but that applies more for polished leather and less for worn, scuffed leather like this guy's wearing.)
