dude
I can say that I saw this first hand at GenCon and am glad it won. Great job! Although you must admit that the halfing roasting a marsh mellow from the red dragon was pretty darn funny!
GreyHorde
I'll come out of lurker mode to say I'm very proud you won. It's obviously an inspired and creative piece.Cheers! Kev Thanks! You can be proud and take some of the credit for technique and inspiration, you know. Awesome work - congrats!!! Whoa! Haven't seen you around lately, either, V V. Thanks, much! I can say that I saw this first hand at GenCon and am glad it won. Great job! Although you must admit that the halfing roasting a marsh mellow from the red dragon was pretty darn funny! Thanks! And yeah, I love that piece, too. I'm just glad I didn't have to compete against Sue, or Derek or Zach Lanier (the big winner, overall) for that matter. Next year I will have to enter different categories and push my painting skills several more levels to have any hope against the likes of that bunch. @ joe b - thanks, again. The wings are a slightly greyish brown on the outside, grey to white on the inside. The pattern was inspired by a kildeer, a plover-type bird common to the area where I grew up. Tough to photograph properly, unfortunately. I took these because the ones on Dark Sword's site, taken by Gen Con, seem harshly lit and overexposed, making the wings look rough and chalky, her hair washed out, etc. The succubus looks a little better, there, so feel free to check them out, as well. Thank you, all. I do appreciate the kind words and encouragement. Any suggestions or critiques? Come on...I just know someone is aching to point out that the Ship of Purple and Teal sailed several years ago...

I didn't check it for kildeer wings, but then you've already painted those. Very nice diorama! Kang
GreyHorde
heh heh Yep, that's the site I used for reference. My memory is good, but not that good. I was posting from work, where I don't have it bookmarked. Here's the killdeer wing outside and inside or from below.

Thank you, I appreciate that. And I appreciate any nitpicks, too, especially the ones that come with suggestions on how to improve, things to keep in mind for the next piece.
