haldir
In-laws got 1 gift for the kids yesterday, but it was a big one, the Wii Sports pack. Wii system + sports disk. Anyways, looks like I'll be spending some time on there now, I see a new version of Super Mario Brothers is out as well, I may have to pick that one up sometime down the road. Last version of series I played was SuperNes. As I posted in Facebook, nice to have a console in the house again. Eventually I want to hook it up to the net (when I get the kids' computer downstairs finally up & running), anyone with a Wii net-connected? Super Administrators kit Posted December 27, 2009 Super Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2009 If you have a wireless router, the Wii is a snap to get online. Otherwise you need an additional ethernet adapter. We have a lot of fun with our Wii. I bet your house will have fun, too, though check the reviews on the new SMB. I understand that the controls are a little bit "soft" and the co-op play is a great way to strain your marriage.
Bel_Amore
the co-op play is a great way to strain your marriage. oh isn't that the truth!! We cracked open a new wii game last night after the baby went to bed...hurtful words were spoken in harsh tones Enjoy it Randy! We're connected online so if you want out Wii number, send me a PM here or FB!
Nanite
Yeah, I don't suggest New Super Mario Wii if you like peace and harmony in your home. It's also only a graphical step up from Super Mario World, and not really worth $50 for me. Super Mario Galaxy though, is magic. It's stunningly beautiful at times, and really fun. Wii Play is a must though. It's a free disk with an extra controller, but my family has enjoyed the included games. Mario Kart is also easy to recommend, and a couple bargain bin favorites are Williams Pinball Hall of Fame, and Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Art-Style Orbient is a WiiWare (online download) title I can recommend as well. Enjoy!
Vil-hatarn
Second the suggestion for the Williams Pinball--we picked it up off a discount rack for $10 or something, and it's been great! It uses both controllers, so it actually feels somewhat like you're standing at the pinball machine.
GreyHorde
We got one this year, too. First console in our house, ever. Got the Wii Play, Lego Indiana Jones, some odd Monkey game I can't name or recommend (in-laws...what can you do?), Block Party and Super Mario Brothers. Mario Kart and tabletop steering wheels will have to wait a bit.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted December 27, 2009 Moderator Share Posted December 27, 2009 We just got ours as well. Wii sports resort is turning into the big hit here. I can't get enough of the Swordplay. My Son love Wii Spore Hero as well. TS
Nanite
Grey Horde Reminded me of another one to look for: Boom Blox Really fun way to blow out your elbow (throwing motion), and a great family game.
Jubilee
err.. why is super mario so bad for a marriage?
Nanite
New Super Mario has a cooperative mode where you can have two to four players playing the level at once. Problem is, everyone bounces off one another and it's really hard not to accidentally kill the other players. You can also pickup the other players and throw them. It's more frustrating then fun. orcsoul
Well you're operating under the assumption that the sole objective is to complete the level with as few casualties as possible :P
Spike
PVP Super Mario Bros sounds like a winner to me!
sethohman
Kids picked up a Wii for christmas from my in-laws, too. the new Super Mario Brothers is a hoot! I love it - fun with the kids, and even more fun solo. Very reminescent of Super Mario 3 for the NES (last version I played). Of course, I now have to go find some 'daddy' games......... bikerdrew
Myself and the boy have become quite addicted to COD4 on Xbox live (on reason why I didn't hit my painting target this year - curse you, on-line gaming!). We don't have a wii yet - but wii fit is tempting. I think my wife would prefer that than COD4.
Artists Wren Posted December 29, 2009 Artists Share Posted December 29, 2009 It's been a while since we've used our Wii much, but we're planning to get back to it as we got the Fit for Christmas. Of the early games we played, by far my favourite was Raving Rabbids. Wonky fun in the mini games, and shooting toilet plungers at the rabbids in the rail shooter parts just never got old for me.
