Nolatari
We have a Wii at my house...we've played it five times in the past year...
Star Drifter
I wound up getting my own Wii for father's day. Aryanun knew I wanted to play, but our oldest son took over the one in the living room. I love how pretty the high-def systems are, but I also had an Atari back in 1982. The Wii was something fun and different, and at that time the only PS2 games I still played were DDR. So I love the getting up and moving aspect. I'm Internet connected, but don't really play a lot of games online with it. Without the online games, it's pretty much just a colorful email system. Bruunwald
We have a lot of fun with our Wii. I bet your house will have fun, too, though check the reviews on the new SMB. I understand that the controls are a little bit "soft" and the co-op play is a great way to strain your marriage. This is true in our house, too, but for political reasons. I've never been a Nintendo man. My wife, on the other hand, grew up a Nintendo junkie. The tension comes when I get mad at the wonkiness of the Wii's tracking system while playing the latest Silent Hill game and she interprets it as an attack on everything she holds sacred, video game-wise. Admittedly, I'm a bit harsh with my criticism. The Wii Fit Plus thing seems a little racist in execution. I can't help but feel that it is constantly pointing out to us that we are dumb, fat, white Americans. I mean, we are fat white Americans, but it sort of ruins the fun of a video game when it keeps telling you how lame you are.
haldir
thinkin about getting a Gamefly subscription, but I'm not really sure right now if I want to pay $15.00 a month after the free month. The closest shipping area is California, so I'm not sure of the transit time (Netflix was nice as it was over in Meridian (Boise) ID, so that was 2 days tops for movies). Since Christmas I've been browsing the Wii games more & more at the local shops & I've noticed the game selection isn't as high as xbox 360 or PS3 + the used selection of Wii games at the local shops is weak as well, not sure if this cause people hang on to their Wii games more or what. Anyways I'll probably pick up Wii Sports resort & Wii Play (mainly for that controller) eventually, but for now we just have Wii Sports, not that it matters kids love playing that one. GreyHorde
My wife just started Wii bowling and now she beats the crud out of me on a regular basis. She tossed a 279 a couple of nights ago.
Kataclysm
Well, the Wii is geared for a much more casual, family friendly audience. But, if you want a good challenge, definitely pick up the Metroid Prime collection, all 3 of the prime games with updated controls in a very sexy metal pack. Also, you can't go wrong with Twilight Princess (Zelda). It's almost a religious experience. I'm a bit of a more hardcore gamer, but my sister in law let me borrow Boom Blox and I am ashamed to admit it was actually really fun. Sanael
We've just ebayed a Wii--as in purchased, not sold--and all the Rock Band madness we could get our hands on. We now have the RB equipment, which is awesome, as well as the WiiFit box, which will be enjoyable. Sad part? The seller of the Wii is not forthcoming with info...paid for it a week and a half ago, received a payment confirmation and "I'm prepping to ship" email three days ago, and nothing since. I hate sellers like this... But I'm looking forward to the Rock Banding, as well as all the Zelda (the Wii is supposedly coming with Twilight Princess and the entire DLC back catalogue of Zelda)...I'll have to look into the Metroid box, because that would be sweet! Kataclysm
I'll have to look into the Metroid box, because that would be sweet! Its packaged as "Metroid Prime Trilogy" its in a plastic sleeve thing around the metal case. All in all a very fun romp.
haldir
My wife just started Wii bowling and now she beats the crud out of me on a regular basis. She tossed a 279 a couple of nights ago. Yah my 7 year old son surprisingly has the top score in our house. I think it's 259 or something like that. Heck I recall that game, strike-strike-strike, etc. No one can even touch him ha ha. I totally forgot about the Wii Zelda game. Loved playin the other Zelda games so I may just have to pick that one up here soon.
Nanite
The Metroid box was a limited edition. If you see it, grab it. Sadly there's no standard Trilogy edition either.
Lithian
Actually my wife got me the Samurai Showdown & King of Fighters anthologies, it's the funnest thing I've done in a long time. Splinter Cell Double Agent is great, and of course all the rock band games.
marthaeasypics
the co-op play is a great way to strain your marriage. oh isn't that the truth!! We cracked open a new wii game last night after the baby went to bed...hurtful words were spoken in harsh tones Oh, you poor dear. I feel for you. Take heart in knowing that it is no different in my home either!
Nanite
Finally! Netflix over Wii: http://kotaku.com/5446872/netflix-official...he-nintendo-wii The Wii uses an intentionally borked version of the Opera web browser. It can do youtube, but no Hulu or Streaming Netflix. One down, one to go!
