Dilvish the Deliverer
Not buying so many minis might be a good goal too. Those look like English words, but the sentence reads as gibberish. :) I have serious problems sticking to that commitment, even though I say it once a year. I'm determined this time. I'm sure that this time things will be different.
Jen
Hmmm.... 1. Imperial Guard. Hopefully I can get 'em done by the end of the year. 2. As much additional stuff as I can fit in. 3. I hate to say it, but...buy fewer minis. :p Maybe one per two that I finish, so I can try to whittle down my pile 'o metal somewhat.
GreyHorde
For 2010 I also entertain notions of competitions, conventions, exchanges, gifts and commissions...oh, yeah, and maybe occasionally painting stuff because I want to ... but I just can't plan for them at this point. Too many variables. They definitely sit higher on my priority list than tabletop games or painting for them, so they could seriously affect my 2010 total numbers. I would like to commit to painting more than I accumulate, but with Warlord expanding, blowout sales that are bound to happen and new games & mini companies coming along...? Big doubts that I could pull it off. I might try it with a modified formula: (minis painted) + (unpainted minis sold) - (minis aquired) = (net change). Mini Killer
I will keep this simple. I would like to complete 12 figures in 2010. Anything over that will be a plus. Need to learn to paint more efficiently.
Nanite
Not buying so many minis might be a good goal too. Those look like English words, but the sentence reads as gibberish. :) I have serious problems sticking to that commitment, even though I say it once a year. I'm determined this time. I'm sure that this time things will be different. Maybe if I go 10 to 1? See, I'm already caving, because I don't want to miss Shoatima and Frummity. And that new venomthrope will look good next to Bathalians, and there's a new Bathalian on the way, and... AAAGH! Get out of my head Reaper! nytflyr
I want to clean out my drawers of unpainted lead and replace them with painted figures. I also want to complete my Razig army and maybe start on a Nefsokar one, most everythign is going to be pulp related, maybe a few fantasy pieces, no sci-fi planned
gamerlibrarian
I haven't painted in a while. At one point, I was going to an informal painting club once a week, run by local Black Lightning reps (waves at Froggy and his wife). I've since moved multiple times, and don't currently even have a painting/hobby area set up. And according to Reaper's Black Lightning finder, there are no reps within 200 miles of me, and indeed, none in my state. So I have no idea if I'll accomplish any of this: Get hobby/painting area set up Paint what I have primed (maybe 3 figures, one already in progress) Get some basing materials, and try actually basing figures Seal and base two familiars Try out this pinning thing, starting with figures which need arms attached, and move up to a small dragon figure I have Paint and base at least 9 more figures, and the dragon In the end, this should result in at least 12 painted figures, at least some based, 2 familiars, and a dragon. There is also this boxed set Reptus army lurking all dusty and in need of a home at the local gaming shop. But no one I've met up here plays Warlord, so it would be silly to buy it. But lizardmen... Oh, and I should definitely buy stuff from Dragon Snack at SimCon. So that's more minis to paint.
Ferox
This looks fun; may I play? I want to paint up some small "adversary" groups for the D&D games I occasionally play in and GM. I have grand plans to paint up a bunch of Overlord figs as "organized evil dudes" (hobgoblins, evil (demi)humans, whatever). I also want to come up with a bunch of gnolls for larger, more bestial baddies; I have a start with a couple of Tre Manor's sculpts, but I'm having a hard time deciding how to expand those. I picked up a box of GW Vampire Counts Zombies for damn near $1/fig, which I plan to turn into generic undead/possessed/Lovecraftian dudes (accompanied by various wraiths, skeletons, and so on). And finally, I ought to build up a decent selection of (giant and dire) rats, wolves, insects, and so on. I figure a box of Hormagaunts would do me quite nicely for Kruthik/Umber Hulk/etc miniatures with a bit of judicious kitbashing. Of course, I also want to finish and defend my dissertation, then go get a job to feed my pewter-and-plastic habit.
warlordgarou
My sig has my goals for the year: Army-sized projects for 2010 - WFB - Ogres, Skaven, Dwarves, Orcs and Vampire Counts. 40k - Tau, Guard, Marines, Orks. FoW - German, Soviets, Brits. DBA - 6 armies. 25mm Western figs. Some giant stompy robots for CAV and HG. A bunch of 25mm Romans just because. Maybe a couple of Warmaster armies. I know I won't finish everything, and it doesn't include exchange figs or anything like that, nor does it include terrain, but it's a goal. psyberwolfe1
1 goal: paint my WFB Empoire army. It is 140 figures I've already knocked out 18 this year. After this everything else will be gravy.
WizardOne
My goals for the year would be: Paint up a 1000pt Reven army. As of now I have four models painted: Hill Giant Gnoll archer Orc Spearwielder (DHL mini) Winged Gremlin (will proxy for a Harpy) Finish assembling and Paint up a Grave Horror which will be used as an A-bom (Hellpit Abomination) in a Skaven Warhammer army. After that (if I get that far) I'll have to set new goals. I should clarify - these CAV stuff have been well-used and loved, and are now sitting painted in a sort of Velveteen Rabbit state - they're Real, but idle . . . Hmmmm, write a new game* for them? Incorporate into Savage Worlds scenarios? *If Predator Drones don't need a pilot aboard, why does a CAV need one. New game name: "UCAV"? . . . Not buying so many minis might be a good goal too. nytflyr
my goal for the year is 100 minis, Im at 50 51 (with 2 being really close to being complete). one goal, stated above, was to replace the unpainted lead in my drawers with painted lead, luckily I was able to trade away a bunch of the pieces I really had no desire to paint, which makes things much easier. here's my list of finished ones this year http://blog.gargoyleslanding.com/articles.asp?pagename=2010minis
GreyHorde
Mid-year thread bump. How are you guys doing on plans and goals? Most of my 2010 plans are still intact. While I am definitely behind schedule in terms of raw numbers, most of my original technique goals have been met. I've been experimenting with dipping & speed painting, finding balance between quality and speed for basing WL models, working out a color scheme for my WL Dwarves and sculpting a little. There were some Dwarves I had planned to either repaint or sell, but they have been reallocated to a demo group. Eventually I'll paint a few more to round them out. I have not been able to participate in contests, exchanges or conventions as I had hoped, but I am gearing up for Gen Con. After that, I will probably knock out the commissions and start speed/dipping to crank out WL models, get them on the table. By the numbers: 1 exchange mini completed 17 of 50 Necropolis completed 1 online comp completed 1 'just because' completed 2 of 75 Dwarves completed 0 of 25 Sisters completed 4 comp in progress 5 online comp in progress (deferred; due at Halloween) 1 commission (dragon) in progress 1 commission (scale model) in progress
Jen
I think I'm doing pretty good for getting my Imperial Guard infantry done by the end of the year. I'll still have vehicles to do, but I can live with that. As for the paint vs. purchase count, I'm behind...or perhaps ahead, depending on how you count it. I'll probably end up with too many purchased for the year.
